Next Generation 5 series

Hi, Sorry if this has been asked before. Does anyone knows when BMW will release the next generation ( newer than F10) BMW 5 series? I am looking forward to upgrade my E60. If not, is the F10 worth the upgrade? My E60 is still in pristine condition with < 10,000km on it. However, the warranty is running out and if I can resell at a good price, I am thinking of upgrading.

If I'm right BMW brings a new generation about once every sixth year.. So that means 2015-2016? My tip is to go and by the F10, I have a F11 and love it to death, best car EVER.

The next model will come out in the Fall of 2017 as a 2018 model. BMW cycle is 7 years (usually). I didnt own a e60 so cannot comment about if its better. However, I love my F10. Real joy to drive.

Look forward to the LCI for MY2014. As typical. 4 years into the F10 production. Then it will last another 3 years til the next gen 5 series ... as others have said already

The f10 just came out.. so it will be a while like someone said about 5-7 years. Just get the f10 its a great car. Or if you have the money get the new M5 in a few months. (wish it was available when I was buying.. =/) One thing you should know it the car is much more delicate than previous bmw's. My e39 is so much more massive and well built then the f10. I still love the car though.. Its more of a luxury ride, but can be sporty at the same time.

The e39 (especially the e39 M5) is still a gorgeous car. That M5 is still one of the coolest looking sedans on the road today

Yeah the e39 got the highest car rating ever, the car is great. 11 years and still looks better than most bmw's that are only 2-3 years old ;P

Thanks guys for your feedback! Yes, 2017 will be too long to wait. Which model and configuration would you recommend? Due to traffic condition in where I lived, I wll prefer comfort over speed or raw power. Will a basic 523i model suffice? I am also thinking of a titanium silver interior and a aluminium/black leather interior ( less maintenance ).

can you explain "delicate" ? I though each newer generation has stronger frame and more rigid?

It all depends on your budget and needs. Personally, I would not go for the 528 as it has a 4 cyl engine. Even if you don't mind the small engine, it may hurt the resale value. I think for the full potential of the 8 speed auto box, you got have a V8.
my 2 cents...

You may take note that the OP is from Indonesia. I can tell you from very personal experience, that one rarely gets above 25 mph driving in Jakarta and rarely above 50 mph on one of the few highways there. I'm pretty sure that V8s in Indonesia have very little demand or market share.

Are you talking about the LCI ( Life Cycle Inspired ) which is a refresher to the
current F10 with minor changes? If so I say 2015.

By delicate I mean my old e39 is made of better material than the new one. Everything is much more delicate for example: The leather seats, seatbelt, the steering, and the overall body. The doors on my old one way so much more than on the new one. Its like a feather compaired to the e39. The new design is much more agressive and nicer if thats what your talking about.. but the old one is made much more solid and better materials. Don't get me wrong lol I love the f10.. But when you loook at both cars, there is a big difference.

Sorry, disagree completely. Having owned a 2001 E39 and now a 2011 F10, don't agree. At all.

Next gen 5 series will be awesome. Make sure you hold out till 2017 for it. Hope the E60 lasts that long.

I agree that the e39 was the last best built 5 series of it's time, IMO. I wish I had kept mine. I wanted the 540i so bad at the time...I think that was a true best (albiet the M5).

I come from a 2001 525i E39 and I have to say I think the exact opposite of everything you just said.

My bet is F10 LCI no later than spring 2014, and new 5 series in 2017.

I would strongly recommend F10/F11 530d or 535d (if you can get these in Indonesia?), great performance and mileage. These engines also work very smoothly with the brilliant 8-speed auto.

lol... so your telling me that the seat belts arent flimsier, the door is not lighter, streering is much more easier, you dont feel the speed as much as in the old one, there is more plastic on the car? If so then idk what e39 you owned or f10 you bought because these are clear differences to me and many of my friends who have owned the e39 and the new f10.

Don't notice this. And the plastic is better in the F10. Unless the cheesy upholders in the E39 that broke every 5 seconds count. Or the trim that fell off the door all the time.
