New F10 520d M-Sport Imperial Blue

Picked up my new 520d M-Sport last Friday (in the dark), and the weather hasn't been kind over the weekend, so it's been a little difficult to take any decent photos.

I'm sure you've all seen a 520d M-Sport in Imperial Blue before anyway, but I thought it might be useful to post pictures of it with V-spoke 281 winter wheels. These are 18" with run-flat winter tyres. I'm quite pleased with them, as I chose them off the BMW website without seeing them, and I think they really suit the car.

One question I do have though; the car seems to be riding a little higher than I expected, for a M-Sport (it just has the regular M-Sport suspension, no adaptive trickery). I wonder if it will settle a bit over time, or is this it?

Nice car. Similar to mine.
Are those wheels the £2200 winter option on the BMW website?

Yes they are. The BMW website seems to be incorrectly showing a picture of the 19" version of these wheels, though I realised this before I ordered, and didn't expect the car to look like the computer generated picture:

Another UK F10.... well done.

Good to see a set of winter wheels on the F10... I went for the cheaper option, nearly new, Style 327 17" in pristine condition, for less than £1k.

Been working hard this week in all kinds of snow, ice and slush. Plus they are easy clean.

Yes, it is quite dark, and to be honest it almost put me off buying it, as in M-Sport guise there's not much chrome to offset the very dark blue colour. Given a free choice, I probably would have gone for Silver or Grey. But this colour was the only one the dealer had with the extra pre-registered discount, so I took a chance, and it is growing on me.

When it's dirty, it does look a bit dull, almost like a matt dark blue, but I'm hoping it will be more "colourful" in the summer, when I can keep it clean, and the sun's shining a bit more.

Under artificial light, the metallic (Xirallic?) effect really brings out a much stronger blue - almost a purple to my eyes - see below (apologies for crappy phone pic):

Should be no reason to have an alignemnt for changing to winter wheels, unless you know there is an issue with the geometry. There is no physiscal change to ride height or any alignment feature with different rim dimensions to OEM size specification.

^ I see, i would have thought that the camber/caster on 275's wheels and for example slimmer wheels like 245 would be different?

For tyre wear there may be the benefit of tweaking the geometry, but BMW specs' typically allow for wheel options. I'm sure there is an absolute optimum for a given size, but compromise is the nature of wheel options.

Not too dark for me. I like how the colors seem to change under different conditions.

More Imperial Blue pics

More pictures of the 520d M-Sport in Imperial Blue - in the snow of course. Winter tyres are well worth having in this weather.

The M5 style boot lip spoiler arrived last week, but I think it's a bit cold to stick it on just now...

Nice winter wheels they are the same as mine although I've got them on, not really needed them this time round, in Glasgow we've been fairly lucky with no snow

Looking good! Where did you buy your M5 boot lip spoiler from?
