Where did my USB socket go?

So I have just had to swap my company car over. Previously I had a 2014 520D and now I have a 2015 520D. Apart from the colour, the only difference is the new one is an auto and the previous was a manual Both cars had ZERO options.

So on the old car, for my dash cam I ran down the A pillar and into the glovebox where there was a USB port on the left hand side which worked a treat. On this car, there is a blanking plate in the same position.

As I said, both cars have zero options so where did this USB port go? Was it deleted or moved somewhere else?

Otherwise it looks like I will need to drop into the fusebox for power which I would rather avoid if i can

Thanks

On a 2015 it was a £45 option "12V power sockets" which also put one in the boot. Glad I checked before I ordered my 2015 F10 because my 2012 model had them as standard.

The one in the glove box was not the same as the one UNDER the glove box that came as part of the £45 option you mention.

Indeed the one in the glove box was used to update the satnav maps last time round so had a fundamental purpose. I assume now that the maps are updated via the USB port in the centre console.

The one in the glovebox disappeared around the time the LCi was introduced, as you say since then all updates are via the centre console usb.

That's annoying

Looks like I am going to have to tap the fusebox then (as I assume the wiring for said USB port isn't there either)
