2011 535i climate timer to run fan for 30 minutes when parked
I'm trying to enable the feature of my new 2011 535i that runs fans at two programmed times during the afternoon when the car is parked so it will cool the car off.
It works great the first day, but seems to automatically be unprogramming the checkboxes. Does BMW really think that we're going to go through the trouble of re-programming this darn thing every single day? |

Gees, the car certainly seems to be sophisticated enough to detect a battery that is starting to be drained of power, and just ignore the timer after the battery drains down to 60% of capacity.

maybe it does that too, not sure. However, when it get this hot in August, the fan is just moving around hot air, you need the A/C.

In really hot climate I see no use of this option unless you open the front windows slightly to let the air circulate, otherwise you will actually be circulating hot air which defies the purpose.
So eventually you will have to operate the windows and switch on the function every time you leave the car.

I use it almost every day, have it set to run as I leave work. the real benefit of this feature is that it cools the air ducts(not by much tho, since AC isn't running), and as soon as you turn on AC, you get cold air way faster than when you don't have it set to run. I think if it gets real hot, it really doesn't make much difference tho...

You don't have to reprogram it, it will remember the time. You simply have to turn on the timer. I created a shortcut to the menu option (button #8) so it's not such a big deal.
