The warranty on the headlight will void and all electronics connected to it (i.e. relay, fuse, switch, etc.). The chance of your headlight going bad w/i the warranty period is pretty slim, especially LEDs are made to outlast Xenons.

I wouldn't do this conversion for $3k-4k+. Just save up and then trade up, as you'll keep finding more things you want from an LCI (if you're a 550 owner, you'll want 45 more HP and better mpg). By then, you'll want the new body 5. Just be happy with what you got now, the pre-LCI is still good looking.

The current headlights look like a piece of art when you look at them. No doubt the LED technology around the new Angel Eyes will look sharper and more focused when on, however when off, I think the new ones look very clinical and "techy" compared to the more "arty" current ones. I love the frosty eyebrows and the frosty "LED cluster" as the turn signals as well.

All in all, they both should look equally as "good" when judging from a holistic and straight-up design point of view I'd think, however the newer ones will have slightly better technology, or so I'd at least assume for the Xenon cars.

I'd like to get the LCI headlight and (assuming the bumper will have to change to accommodate the headlights, 'maybe' even the fender, thoughts?) LCI M bumper.

just as a FYI - replacing pre-LCI xenons with LCI xenons is effectively a technical "downgrade".

The LCI xenons do not have LED turn signals whereas the pre-LCI xenons do. On the LCI, the turn signals are halogen.

I don't think that is the case.

No way an incandescent bulb fits in this tiny space for the turn signal. And BMW has never offered full LED headlights with incandescent turn signals.

Someone should figure out how to retrofit the entire front end of 6 series Gran Coupe onto the f10. I know previous gen Merc C55 AMG used the front parts of CLK because the v8 wouldn't fit under C class hood.

the pic you posted is a full LED headlamp. I am saying that the LCI xenon headlamp has halogen turn signals wherease teh pre-lci xenon headlamps has LED turn signals..

Wow, is this for sure? I hate halogens, no place on the headlight unit of a car like this. I would literally turn down a 2014 with Xenons for a 2013 because I refuse to have those archaic eyesores on the headlight clusters.

I guess that's how BMW will gauge $1,900 for moderate upgraded LED headlights after all. They sure know what they're doing.

Ah yes, I didn't read your post carefully. I don't have a pic handy, but I still don't think the new Xenons use halogen turn signals. I'm going by memory from what I saw in the configurator, and it just seems like an odd thing for BMW to do.

there is a thread on a german forum where they have been bashing BMW for pages for the halogen turn signals on the LCI xenons.

I hope this is true as it'll keep me much more content with my pre-LCI.

Is this real?
Wow, the cynic in me says it's BMW at their thieving ways again - make you have to order the LEDs or get stuck with halogen turn signals.
This would fit well with the f30 which don't get LED brake or signals..
wow, BMW.. just wow

naja, on the one side they are giving away the xenon for free (in 95% of europe, xenon was an extra that cost about 1000 eur)... on the other side, they are saying: if you want the led side signals, go buy the LED headlamps..

^How much are the LED option over xenon option(pre-LCI)?
I guess you are right if you get them for free.
But in HK, the xenon was included in base spec, I doubt LEDs will be, so looks like most base buyers here will enjoy a slightly lower base price but do without the LED signals..

Not confirmed yet, in Canada, these LED headlights will be grouped as Vision package, probably around $4K Cdn. Take it or leave it type of choice.

Im thinking it should be a direct swap. Maybe a tweak in programming but that is about it. The M sport look should remain the same hopefully. Audi and Benz Led is the same. I doubt BMW will be any different. Fingers-crossed!

I like the front more than the back lights but I think it should not be hard to do the swop, like the E60 it should be just plug and play with the new 3 party wires.
