My AA Signature is too Quiet!

Hi there!

So I am new to turbo cars and I know that the turbos can seriously muffle the sound of the engine, but I know the N63s are capable of sounding very mean.

I have an Active Autowerk Signature exhaust and it sounds great idling and below 3k RPMs, but after 3k the car sounds stock. This is only an axel-back system - my exhaust shop recommended removing the resonator. We did a muffler/res delete on my M6 and it is VERY loud, I don't necessarily want that as the 550i is my daily car (and I get up for work at 4am... neighbors won't be happy).

Basically, my question is how do I get a little more sound out of the car without making it annoyingly loud, and without DRONE. Also looking to get more sound from the turbos, but I think that can be done with an intake.

One thing to note, my car is a CPO car so I also don't want to do anything that'll void the warranty until it's up in November.

No... Just don't wake him up until after you leave the neighborhood haha! All seriousness intakes will help to hear your turbos spooling but for the exhaust I'll let the 550 guys jump on in regards to removing your resonators if that'll give you what you're looking for. But there's always a comprise for things you want like possible drone and what not

F' the neighbors, get what you want and live your life! As for the drone, its gonna cost 4-7k for those exhaust systems with no drone.

I did a resonator delete on my previous 550. Sure there is a little drone around 2k RPM, but I really don't get all the complaints about it. It wasn't annoying at all, in fact I liked it a lot. A bassy hum that subtly reminds you of the beast you're driving but hey, different strokes different folks. Plus, just put it into manual and keep it in 7th or 8th gear on the highway and you'll avoid it.

The car sounds a lot better with the resonator delete IMHO, especially since you want to keep your downpipes stock. Plus the way it sounds on shifts is the best part.

Here is a clip I found on Youtube, similar to how mine sounded.
