JB4 questions regarding OBD CONNECTOR?

Any issues with not using the OBD CONNECTOR for a JB4 on my 535i? I have a chance to get a JB4 but without the OBD CONNECTOR so I'm trying to understand the issues i may run into without it? Appreciate any help on this from my fellow members as tuning is all new to me

I would purchase it.. the obd connector not only adds in dash features like map changing and boost gauge etc, it also gives the jb4 alot more parameters to work with and safety nets..

Also, the OBD connection is required for all new firmware. The old posi-tap Can-Bus tap is no longer supported.

That is for the USB side of things, he is asking by the OBD connection that will be needed either USB or Bluetooth.

But the bluetooth is hella fun add on once all is connected up.

If you haven't bought it yet, do yourself a favor and buy the JB4 new. Too many scary stories out here from folks that buy them used.

And yes, you do want the BT kit as well. It's pretty cool configuring everything, changing maps, updating firmware, etc. without need to open the hood and connect a laptop up. Plus monitoring things real-time with your phone is priceless, not to mention logging to your phone!

Bluetooth / USB cable are used to change maps, settings and upgrade firmware.

They do not replace the OBD.
If you run the tune without OBD, it will run exactly as a stage 1 without any of the Jb4 features

I have the OBD cable on my Jb4. It puts the menus on the gauges. Good to have. Worth the extra coin.
