Same has been said about Bangle era cars, though we all learned to like (AND BOUGHT) the new 3, new 5, new 1, and especially the Z4 (best bangle car imho) and even the old 7 grown on many just to how brutal and special that car is and how much presence on the road it got.

I think though that BMW is doing models noone really wants to buy unless they have too much money - sadly with no more cheap credit around, you just can't have that many of those people anymore.

I haven't learned to like the Bangle era cars. Most tried and true Bimmer enthusiasts haven't either. BMW design is quite literally a joke. My gf saw the pics on here of the 5 GT and all she said was "that thing is hideous." My sentiments exactly. It makes me want to puke. If I see one on the road I may have to plow into it just to put the thing out of its misery.

I really like this concept (looks and all). From the front doors forward it is pretty much a 5 series and it will offer the typical bmw driver focus that we have come to expect.From the back seats though it offers the extreme luxury and room of a 7 series, And yet I can still put my huge dog in the back, or take a nice road trip with the wife, go snowboarding or even camping or whatever else comes to mind. So it has the utility of an X car but should be rear wheel drive only so it will still have good chassis dynamics. Hopefully they put the X6 rear diff in there. It is much more stylish and better looking than any wagon. It should have the normal range of turbo'd sixes and V8's (so plenty of power) and still has the elegance to go out to a nice dinner. This car offers everything I need in a street car I just need a track toy on the side.

I love the evolution of the CS into the new product line. The Hatch design is not "my thing". Kind of reminds me of the old Rover/Sterling hatch from the 80's.
Perhaps, like many of the current models, it will look better in person.
By the way for a vehicle that is supposed to serve many purposes why are there only 4 seats?
I Love the X6 but was forced to get a 535 last fall because of the seating, I couldn't convince my wife to leave her mother home.

Honestly I think the car will look a lot better in person. Hit after hit for BMW this year. The new 7 is amazing, the Z4 is ludaC... and the X5/X6 M combined with this GT is a really good car selection. BMW needs to stay independent, releasing these models is all about survival and profitability. New niches are key and what made the X3 so amazing and just look at the way the 1 series has just taken over. Anyone not noticing the amazing product line they have to offer has some issues.

I've always had a wagon fetish, my DD is a Mazda Protoge5, I hope we see some type of M version of these. Just as they have a M5 wagon now in some countries...
