New Member Intro - New 535i M Sport

Hi Guys / Gals,

New member and new '14 535 M-Sport Owner here. My journey to an F10 was long overdue. I have raced Porsches for years and depended on my F350 Dually as a daily driver (because it pulled the trailer that took my racecar to the track and just didn't want/need to buy another car)...which is NOT fun as a daily, so last week I had enough & took the plunge and just got the M-Sport.

I'm a tinkerer, and can't leave a stock car alone...so I am looking for some advice on tasteful mods.

It seems there are tons of front and rear spoiler options out there, but I have no clue who makes them all.

One thing I did already do is drop the car on ACS springs...huge improvement, along with black frt grilles.

As far as the "gloss black" roof wrap I read about...are you guys just taking the car to any wrap place and they know what to do? I have wrapped many race cars, including my current one below with black roof and have found that clear wrap over the black really looks nice - is that what everyone is doing, or am I missing something?

Here's a quick photo of the new daily driver, and one of my race car if any of you guys appreciate one of the "other" German brands.

Any advice - especially on what NOT to do to the F10 - is greatly appreciated.

welcome...

Tuning: BMS JB4

Spoiler: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=161402094913

Just bought and installed this spoiler...looks perfect.

I think one of the best improvements on looks comes with a wheel upgrade: 9' front and 10.5" rear width, 20" rims.

Welcome and congratulations on the new 5!! It looks great - and so does the Porsche!

As Ben suggested above, the 535 benefits nicely from the JB4 tune - the N55 engine is just very flexible and can be tuned without harm pretty easily (and inexpensively).

I'm not huge into mods, so I don't have many suggestions - I think the M-Sport cars look pretty good as-is. The new suspension setup, however, is no doubt going to help the 5 drive properly. Without the sport suspension or DHP, the F10 is just like a wet noodle.

Again, congratulations - please post some more pics if/when you continue to mod it... and more of the Porsche, too.

@FLA997,
Congrats on the car.
We had similar background, but I am in much much smaller scale.
Had '92 964 C2 for daily and drove F350 hooked to a 2 cars trailer for most of the weekend pratice and events.

Anyway, to give you an idea, these are the mods on my F10 528i.

- KW V2
- 20" Forgestar CF10
- BMS Stage 2
- ER Catless downpipe
- ACS Style Roof spoiler

I would do more mods, but my wife took over the car. That's when I picked up the F15.

Quick question: Did ti come with the 704 sport suspension or the DHP?

I hope you still have the 964? They (and others) are going up in value ever since PDK came about and no more pure manual Porsches will be made.

Yes, I did add spacers...I'd love to add a set of wheels, but its a lease and reluctant to purchase a new set - your wheels look gorgeous. If I could change mine, they would be black.

I wish I had been there...I stay East Coast for racing, and to race the entire Tudor Series you are talking about a multi 7 figure budget...yikes.

I will update the thread with progress for sure. One thing I'd like to do right away is black out the roof.... any suggestions here? Just any wrap place can do this, or...?

As requested, Here are a few more pics of the p-car:

Hi and congrats with the new ride! Hope you enjoy the BMW 5 and it is actually a honor to see the experienced Porsche driver making that choice.

As for the mods: you've been told about engine upgrade with JB4, and I would also suggest Steinbauer box (BMW dealers in Europe do it and keep warranty) or Hartge. Wheels (20" or 21"): HRE, Vorsteiner, MORR, ADV.1 or Forgestar (depending on budget). Carbon: Vorsteiner. Sway bars: H&R for 5-series. Exhaust: Meisterschaft, Supersprint.

Hope you still keep your F350 to pull the trailer? Probably all mods are already in place on it

Good luck!

Thank you for the suggestions. I do still have the F350...after driving the truck daily for 3 years, the F10 feels like a limo in comparison. A daily driver with a turning radius the length of a football field will wear on you.

@FLA997, unfortunately I have to sell it 7 years ago. Because I thought that I will be residing overseas for a long time.
I do regret selling it. Couldn't find a good one anymore today.
I may look for the 993 though, after I finish with my W124 E500 project.
Anyway, good luck with the mods shopping. Let me know if you need any help in ideas or obtaining the parts.

I've owned three 993s in the past - great cars and last of the air cooled.

The car I regret selling was actually my first BMW - an Alpina 1980 E21 Euro 323i.

It is my understanding (and could be wrong) that F10s with a build date after 9/13 could have 704. Mine does.

You are correct 704 comes with the M sport package. DHP is a $ 3500 option.
