Sorry to see your disappointment but BMW USA doesn't give a s@$t about your enthusiast opinion. What they care about is the coke-slurping-doughnuts-eating herd that would buy most of the 5 Series production.

You're full of shit, Met. BMW has already committed to correcting production of 2014 LCIs to include the M-Sport 704 suspension beginning with September production. Additionally, it stands to reason that all LCIs M-Sport RWD vehicles delivered without the 704 suspension will be retrofitted with the 704 suspension at no expense to owners. Your disparaging attitude toward the company is both wrong and sourced from bitterness at past treatment, NOT the current situation and its imminent rectification.

Good to see BMW working to resolve this!

BMW - please dont forget the Driving Enthusiasts - we don't like cushy suspensions that look like a 4x4 truck, and loose/artificial steering!

Ha ha, are you washing dishes at the BMWNA's cantina? Or you're a punk salesman wannabe. Or you never owned a BMW before. Or a combination of the three. Otherwise you would know that BMW - like any other car company - doesn't care about the "enthusiasts" and they care only about what will make them sell more. See run flat tires, electric steering, m-sport suspension snafu, etc, etc.

My "disparaging attitude toward the company"? Lol, you made my day boy. Truly

While enthuasiust may not account for the 90% of BMW sales they constitute it's soul. It's the reason that the otherwise oblivious 90% keep buying the brand because it's cars feels special without knowing why but that is ok. We need to keep on holding their feet to the fire.

I found it interesting that BMW's response to a Bimmerfest member indicated that it is not possible to retrofit the MSport suspension. Hopefully that response was a rogue response rather than a precursor to how BMW is going to play this.
I don't know everything that's involved but it appears to be struts, springs, and front/rear stabilizer bars, which should be easily swappable.

There is also most likely ECU updating for the steering.
Not sure of all the parts though.

What are the chances Bmw will "forget" to add option 704 for the 2015 model year. I'm not clear why it was initially dropped for MY 2014.

BMWNA won't say, but my guess is that since they made significant improvements to the standard suspension, they didn't feel the need to include it for 2014 until the noise on the message boards became too loud. Either that or they screwed up and forgot to include it in the 2014 factory order spec. They handled it extremely poorly but after a couple months of back and forth I got a settlement and am upgrading to an aftermarket suspension.

I feel the same. my guess is that for MY 2015 they will announce ahead of time they will discontinue 704 to avoid customer complaints or to at least warn us on the boards. We just have to make more noise.

With lexus and caddy beating out the f10 for the best drivers cars in the segment they might keep 704 and possibly enhance the msport version. we will see.

For those who have driven the msport and non msport is the difference huge?

Prior to 2014, the difference between the standard and MSport suspensions was considerably larger than it is now. The MSport suspension is slightly stiffer and lowers the ride height by 3/8 inch, but no, the difference is not huge, it's more subtle.

So there is hardly any handling difference between the 2014 msport and non msport?

The F10 is starting to be consistently at the bottom of the comparos. It's really sad when you think of E39 or E60. The 5-er became a bloated barge, there's no trace of the supple athlete it used to be.

Maybe the next 5 will shed 500 pounds and become, once again, a fun machine.

The ride is a bit firmer and it corners a little flatter, but it's not night and day. You have to drive them back to back to see if the differences matter to you.

There's nothing sad about it. BMW made a decision to go more upscale with the 5 series and it paid off by becoming the best selling 5 series in history. I drove all the competitors and have no doubt the 5 series offers the best overall package. For those who want a E39 or E60, buy a 3 series or the new 4 series.

Hehe. Me has the 3-er and will buy the 4 in a couple of months

E60 stroke the best balance between luxury and sportiness. The F30/32 Series is a bit unrefined (ready noisy), so not really a direct E60 comparison which was more grown-up. It is however, the new E39.

I wanted an 530d F10 so bad, but after driving the F30 I just cannot see myself in another boat (I already have one - E66).
