Just one or 2 more things. Id be thinking the same on the nav €2,900 just for a wider screen is madness as i have sat nav on the phone too. My spec is the same as yours, just 19" wheels and possibly xenons aswell. I too am worried about over specing the car as id say you wont ever see the money again etc...

How do you find the power, is it adaquete for the weight of the car? I have an older m3 at the moment but am going sensible , id say running costs will be minimal on a 520d...

Also how is the ride quality with the run-flat tyres? im worried the 19's will ruin the ride...

The 19"s with M Sport suspension are surprisingly comfortable. Its a great combination. I had the same concerns as yourself but rest assured that there is no problem with ride quality. I went for the Visibility pack (Xenons etc) and it looks fantastic. If you buy the service pack for €400 it will really ensure that your running costs are minimal.

I would say the power is adequate, but it is no racehorse. The RFT's are fine, I had them on my last car (E90 320d) and hated them, on this car I do not notice them at all. I haven't driven an F10 with 19" but the last M Sport demo in Joe Duffys had 20" and the ride seemed fine on the short spin i had in that (30 minutes, mainly good quality road surfaces). Definitely the 19" or 20" look better on the car, they fill out the arches much better IMO.

Mcquill,

Congratulations and best wishes on the new car. It looks fantastic. I have just ordered a 520Dse and was wondering about the ambient lighting option. I did not see it on the BMW configurator as an option. Can you let me know what the cost was on this option?

You are right it is not on the configurator probably because it is standard on most of the models in IRL. The list price is €318.74, you get the chrome strips on the door handles as well as the ambient lighting for this price.

When you refer to consumption, is that from the trip computer or actual?

I have now driven about 8000 km's with my F11 520dA and the average consumption stays around 7.1-7.3 l/100 km on the trip computer. Mostly highway at about 130 km/h. I haven't calculated the true consumption yet but judging from the trip computer, I think it's to high.

My old E61 525d manual indicated 6.3-6.5 on the trip computer.

Gorban,

I checked the actual consumption v the trip computer on my first fill of about 900Km, it was very accurate.
I have not bothered to cross reference since then, I keep meaning to download an android app for recording but as yet have not done so.

My 550i M Sport trip computer is within 0.6 MPG which is spot on.
I have got 28.6MPG over 700 miles so far. I think thats great.
