Roof Rack mechanism covers
Does this happen to you? After every car wash, my roof rack hook covers open up. Poor design I suppose

I'm afraid to ask, what type of car wash you go to?

Why are you afraid to ask?
I dont wash my cars myself, so I take them to a automatic car wash like 90% of car owners. It's one of those full service car washes, where they drive it on to the track. Actually I drive it on to the track...I dont let anyone touch the inside given how prone to scratches the F10 is on the inside. Its a very good car wash and I have been using them for years without any issues. |

it's most likely caused by the industrial dryer the car goes under. As long as the flaps stay down when driving, I wouldn't worry about it.

At least I now know how to get them open without prying them up.
AND which way they open. Thanks for the pic.

it's the dryer 90% of the time. i wouldn't worry about it. i would worry more about going threw a car wash that beats the shit out of your cars paint.
i know, i know... i'm just anal.

i'm very weird. i've never touched my car. i fear the swirl that much. i do touchless once a week and then have it detailed and protected at a very reputable shop every so often.

If you look up the part in one of the online part database sites (realoem.com, bimmercat.com, bmwfans.info, etc)...you can get the 11 digit BMW part nbr...then just google search the part nbr (ie BMW xx xx x xxx xxx) and you should get a list of vendors that sell the part. This also gives you an idea of the price range, too. Or you could just go to (or call) your local BMW dealership's parts department and have them look it up and give you a price quote.
You could also look at one of the other ones on your car and get the BMW part nbr and do the same google/internet search using the 11 digit BMW part nbr.
