Speed Limit Display

It seems Speed limit Display is no longer a standalone option for G30. It seems it can only be got as part of a package (Driving assistant or so). Could somebody re assure me that I was wrong?

Its not listed as an individual option so think you are right.

Not on the F10 it wasn't as it was an add-on even if the HUD was on the vehicle

Not sure about the G30 though

There is little detail in the options list, only the packages break down what is included. perhaps the brochure will provide more info

Given that my car has enough "camera" to control the intelligent LED headlights, is it wishful thinking to suppose that Speed Limit Display could be enabled simply by coding? Presumably it can't need any additional hardware.

Hopefully we would be able to code it.

You can't simply code SLI now, so expect similar in G3x.

Given that the database for this (The camera is a backup to account for temporary speed limits and recent changes) is included in everyones car already it really is incredibly frustrating how Speed Limit Display is a cost option supplied with a complex camera.

Meanwhile, a £99 TomTom has Speed Limit Display.

It's standard on the F48 we bought recently so I would be very surprised if it isn't on the G30

BMW's literature can be misleading as it indicated that we needed the driver assistant package to get the camera based speed limits... However thanks to this site I managed to discover it was a standard feature in the UK, my sales assistant was amazed when he tested out the theory on a F48 without the driver assistant package before I dropped this option from my order

Hi there, I know it's a slightly old thread. Can you please advise how you enable this? I have just got a G30 with Pro Navigation... thanks!

I had a chat with the BMW 'genius' at my local dealership when I ordered mine last year. Speed limit is only available with that pack. I couldn't believe it either.

It's bizarre, I have the cameras installed... (but not the package)...

Keen to see what the @The Beast says, might be a miracle... without this the Satnav is so hamstrung, and not much use (as well as the missing speed cameras, but I know that's a whole other topic)

Hey guys I was referring to the F48 (new X1) I bought last year for my wife, this has the camera based speed limit display as standard without the need for the Driver Assistant Package. This was still a relatively new model when we ordered our car so it wasn't as if the functionality was added as a mid-life refresh.

Therefore in my original post I was stating that I'd be shocked if an X1 would have this as a standard feature and a 5 Series have it as an option...

The speed limit information appears on the head-up display in our car, or you can toggle through the BC button on the indicator stalk to have it displayed in the screen between the speedo and rev counter if you don't have the head up display. To check that it is speed camera based and not navigation based you will notice that the car will respond to variable speed limits on motorways or to temporary changes in speed limit at roadworks.

Failing this I would seriously be looking into whether this can be coded if it's not standard, as you have said the car already has all the cameras required for this option
