Fog light bulb compatibility check
I found this while searching for replacements for the fog light bulbs to match the Osram CBI for a non M-sport F10.
http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/HB4...b_search=c2247 Can anyone confirm if this will be an error-free match? On another note, why do most websites list the 2011+ 5-series saloon as having a D2S headlight bulb connector whereas I have repeatedly viewed members here specifying it as D1S?

I thought the non Msport fog light uses H8. Not HB4. You better double check.
As for D2S, BMW has not use D2S for many years. D2S is for headlight with reflector. D1S for projector. D1S is the correct headlight bulbs, which I currently use for the Osram CBI. |

D1S is correct for the bi-xenons right? I went through the "bulb selector wizard" on at least 2 websites and they both got back to me with D2S, even though I selected 5-series saloon/sedan 2011+. I don't get it.
And you say H8 and I am sure you are correct but the website says HB4. Where are these websites getting their information?

For North America, Sylvania is the guide.
http://www.sylvania.com/en-us/applic...n.aspx#fldYear You should check your manual as well. But then I don't see why South Asia version BMW is made any differently. |

For your F10
Xenon bulbs = D1S Regular fogs = H8 (M Sport fogs = H11, and the E60 used HB4) Those websites are often very wrong

Yeah had me worried since I've already bought the Osram CBI with D1S connector and am having it shipped.
Thanks guys.

Will also cause a bulb warning message if its resistance is not the same as the regular bulb

Noted and avoided, thank you. Any other LED options that will work? I've been advised no normal bulbs will match the Osram CBI color.

Not sure if you want to consider this. I have never used them but the pic (not sure if it's photoshopped or not) shows promising matching ??
As typical like all others, they are colored coated bulb http://www.ecstuning.com/News/Ziza_H8_Bulbs/ |

What are the chances of them throwing an error?

Ok cool, they aren't expensive so I can give them a shot. As long as there are no sparks involved!

I would rather get some first-hand feedback from someone who used these bulbs.

What about these, even though it says 4150K on the box. Is PIAA a reliable brand? "Extreme white" seems to be more a marketing term than fact!

^ Piaa ... I used that before, not white at all. Has the dull yellowish look in it. Tiny/marginally better than stock dull yellow.
You need at least 5500K in order to achieve that white/bluish look. |
