Anybody who bought this having trouble with fitment? I had to put my car back to stock to take it in for service. The diameter of the portion that connects to the upper duct (where the MAF is) is significantly smaller than stock so when I had it in for a good while the upper duct diameter got smaller due to the heat and amount I had to tighten it for it to stay in place (it would just keep popping out every once in a while). So once I took everything off I couldn't even fit my OEM intake in. I literally had to take a lighter to the upper duct to loosen up the plastic so I could stretch it out. Eventually the OEM intake fit but now I don't want to put the AFE one back in. I called AFE up and their tech said they'll give me a call back. Anyone else have this issue? This intake isn't so popular, only reason keeping me from switching over to the BMS is because that's an open intake and it gets HOT summer time around here.

If you look at the dyno graphs there isn't an increase in peak power at all.
Stock N55 is 306 bhp, there stock dyno runs don't show that, and the peak power even with the afe intake don't get to 306 bhp. They are only quoting an increase in bhp between stock and mod at the 2-4k rpm range. Which is correct, but not correct in saying the intake will increase power by 32 bhp to 328 bhp. You need to interpreted the graphs correctly.

I do have the AFE intake. I chose it over the BMS intake because I have never loved the idea of oiling a filter.
Anyway, I had the same issue with reinstalling the stock intake. I used a heat gun to expand the car's stock hose so that it fit back onto the stock intake correctly. I didn't think that was too big of a deal. |

I agree! That's quite some money for a no sound hp improvement product! wondering if it's better to just get an aftermarket drop in filter instead?.

I have it and it sounds pretty decent, and I do like it because of the housing, other than that bang for the buck go BMS.
