Wondering if anyone has an opinion on leaving an X5M for a 550i xdrive? My lady and I just had our first child in January and feel like the payment for the X5M isn't really justified (as if it ever was) and have been thinking of leasing the 550i and save about $600 a month. Now, I have an E46 M3 ZCP and love the difference in power between that the X5M but I love the new 550's as well.

Its a 2011 and we've had it since December 2010, so, its been fun a ride with it but maybe its time to go.

Anyway, any thoughts on this? And, is the 2014 worth holding out for with the bump in HP?

If it comes down to money, then you always do what's best for the family. BUT, if you can afford it, then I would stay with the X5M. It's far more versatile and multipurpose when it comes to kids, strollers, diaper bags, groceries, etc.

We can definitely afford to keep it but just felt like the payment wasn't really justified. We live downtown and she doesn't push the truck very hard but I certainly do and I don't want to see that 555 hp V8 go but I understand why it makes sense.

But the points you brought up have been our biggest concern. The rear storage space does allow for so much more versatility.

Go with a nicely loaded X5 5.0i; you can probably get a great price too, as it's on its way out...
