M5 exhaust mod for 535i flap stuck closed

Hi guys

I am getting ready to install the M5 exhuast on my 535i and after doing some inspecting and playing around I found out my passenger side muffler has the flap stuck in the closed position, the flap will move a little but will not open fully it sort of feels like the exhuast tubing is holding it stuck or I may be wrong.

Does anyone have any troubleshooting suggestions?

I had the same issue with mine when I got it. I ended up using brake cleaned into the flaps and with force made it open completely. I then used wire (copper, I think) and with the flaps open, just wrapped the wire to keep them held open.

Thanks for the input guys I'll probably use brake cleaner and some force to get it moving again worse comes to worse the flap will be removed but I'd love to preserve it as much as possible

Forgot to post things months ago lol but the issue to my flap problem was the thin metal rod that the flap swiveled on ... it was a little bent restricting the flap from opening properly I just used some needle nose pliers to straighten it out and worked like a charm
