F10 Base stereo speaker upgrade
Hi
I'm new to this forum. I'm driving a F10 with Base Stereo, and I'm looking for an inexpensive upgrade of the speakers without adding an external amplifier. The Bavsound Stage 1 will be too expensive after import to Denmark. I've been thinking of OEM Top HiFi speakers including tweeters in the front doors and the parcel shelf, or MB Quartz QM200.3 BMW (front doors and underseat woofers). My questions are whether it can be done without adding an external amplifier, and which option will offer the best and the most dynamic sound? |

You want the best and dynamic sound without adding an amp to your base stereo system? That's impossible. As you can see most guys are looking to upgrade from the top hifi speakers, there's a valid reason why they're doing it. Don't waste your money on those MB quarts. If you want to do a proper upgrade save up and do it right the first time mate.

Are the MB Quartz speakers that bad? I got a great deal on a set and was thinking of using them with my top hifi system and running the underseat woofers with a separate JL amp. |

I had the old skool German engineering MBQuarts Components in my Integra and Tundra and they were AWESOME! . But when they had the big change in the company the new MBQuarts just wasn't the same from all the reviews. Someone posted after buying the QM200.3 for their F10 they weren't happy with them. One of the door speakers started acting up and eventually went with something else
I would suggest going with the Bav's and if that's out of your price range than you're pretty much out of any options because anything else will cost more

The Bavsound stage 1 is aprox $950 imported to Denmark. The OEM top hi-fi (from eBay) is $280 and the MB Quartz is $320. Since I'm realy not that much of an audiophile, I think I'll go for the OEM option.

Thanks everyone for your answers. I've read enough threads to know that it is not much of an upgrade. My question is, wich of the low budget solutions will be the best? I guess none of the solutions are worth doing, regardless the low cost.

Why don't you start with the Focal? Start with the Ifbmw-s for the doors and then the subs. Once you have rebuild your budget, go also for the rear deck (mind you, that's not exactly plug&play).
Done it and the sound is great |

I have installed the focal k2 component set in front and uprated rears to coaxial 4".
Instal link i did here.. http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1213339 I did not have the funds to do full upgrade straight away so i choose the focals imo pretty much as good as anything out there, vast improvement over stock (not amplifed yet), rears were not a massive concern to me, i fitted a set of in phase coaxial 4", marginally better than stock. Oem subs are dog poo! So they are next on my list just saving at present and weighing up which ones to get. Finally it will be an amp and one of technics harness' to finish it off. Good luck with your install, and just go for it and get stuck in
