Missing Sport Plus Mode?

I noticed that I don't have Sport Plus Mode on my car.... only Comfort and Sport. Is this something all models should have, or does it come with a certain package?

You need adaptive drive that includes the dynamic dampers to be able to engage the Sport+ mode.

I guess it's true that you get the Sports+ mode with the sports auto also. You won't get the stiffer ride though.

I have Sport and Sport+ on my car, they are all quite silly and I never use them, even on the track. I use Eco-Pro on daily driving and DSTC Off when on a track.

On my car, the Sport and Sport+ mode make a big difference. I allmost never drive my car in normal mode...

Sport makes the throttle much more responsive and I use it in connection with manual shifts (either paddles or gear lever) whenever I drive. I also get nice throttle blips/rev matching on downshifts, which makes it a joy to manually downshift into roundabouts, corners etc...

Sport+ and M mode on the gearshifts leves me in total command of gear shifts. No kick down to a lower gear unless I manually choose a lower gear and no upshifts on redline unless I choose to manually shift gears. It stays in the gear you, the DRIVER, have chosen

Maybe not as noticeable difference on a diesel?

The throttle response, gear shifting and, steering input are sharper in Sport than in Comfort or Eco-Mode; at least this is what I observed from f10 520d Indonesia spec 8AT (no sport+ btw)

Sounds almost like a, gasp, manual transmission!

The steering with more resistance is the best part of the Sport and Sport+ mode I think.

As I used to have a diesel myself, I would agree on the steering on a diesel powered car.

But on my current petrol engined F10, the ability to hold gears and use the full rev range (to 7200rpm), have better/more aggressive throttle response and the rev matching on downshifts is definitely the best part of Sport and Sport+

It's also allmost unbelieveable how much of a difference the latest software update did on my car. It feels like 10-15% more power in the mid range, and sounds like 30%

At first I just thought I was imagining things, but found out via German sources that there was a change in both power and sound on the N53 after the software update. Apparently due to BMW changing fuelling to a richer mixture, and possibly ignition timing changes as well.

Hmm...shouldn't you also have normal? I have a 2011 535i with both adaptive drive and auto sport transmission. It comes with Comfort, Normal, Sport & Sport+ in that order. I only use comfort because I've noticed that Sport(+) use more gas than a Hummer.

I wondering if it's an LCI thing. Perhaps the 2014 models only have 3 modes. I checked with my salesperson the other day; he toggled the button and seemed to think that the 2014 models don't come with Sport+. He did mention that his own 535i (pre-LCI) does have Sport+, and that the only difference from Sport is the ability to take off traction control. At the end of the day, not a huge deal to me I guess.

I have sport + on my LCI. I just don't have "normal." So far, I've only been using Comfort Mode as I'm still try to breakin. Almost at 1200.

In 2010 the F10/F11 came with comfort, normal, sport and sport+ modes in a car with variable dampers. Later but before the LCI this was changed to Comfort+, Comfort, Sport and Sport+. Now there's also the Eco Pro mode.

That was correct on the first pre LCI cars. With the later pre LCI models, Sport+ also changes the transmission settings and disables kick down and automatic upshifts on redline (when in M mode). I.e the driver has to change manually both up and down regardless of throttle positon or rpm

I recently upgraded the software on my car and got that added feature in Sport+ mode.

Well, I find these modes silly anyway, when going fast on a track you like to have it dstc completely off, which forces car to comfort mode.
For faster and a more "sporty" gearchange I can flip the gearlever to S mode.
Further, I like to know how much a certain angle on the gas pedal gives you, having 12 variants is just confusing and silly.

Are you sure that choosing "DSTC off" also forces car to Comfort mode? It sure doesn't on my car... Regardless of mode when I choose "DSTC off", it switches to the Sport+ settings plus DSTC off (obviously). The display shows DSTC off (and not Sport or Sport+), but it IS in Sport+ mode!

How do I know?

Because steering is more responsive, throttle is more responsive and the kick down and upshift at redline functions are disabled, just as in Sport+ mode.

And, you don't have 12 different variants/settings for the throttle
It's either standard or sport... And I really prefer the more responsive throttle response of Sport and neither do I have any problem coping with 2 different throttle responses

But I agree that on a 520d (that I also used to have) the engine's response and power doesn't really suit the more spirited settings or driving of Sport or Sport+

I didn't really use the manual shifting or Sport modes on my 520d either, as it wasn't really that noticeable. That is one of the nice things I have found with my current 3l petrol engine, it's so much more enjoyable to drive in Sport and Sport+ than the diesel version. And the difference between settings is also much more enjoyable

But on a F30 320d that I tested the Sport mode really made a noticeable change that I preferred over the Comfort setting.

On my my2012 the display changes from sport+ to Comfort when disabling dstc completeley, ie holding the button for several seconds.
What I mean is that the total configurations is 10:
Eco Pro and D
EcoPro and S
Comfort and D
Comfort and S
Sport and D
Sport and S
Sport+ and D
Sport+ and S
Comfort Dstc off D
Comfort Dstc off S
I can understand it makes mote sence in a high revving petrol, on the diesels the rpm range is quite limited
I am going for a testride in a 2014 535D today to see the difference.
