535i oil consumption
I have accumulated 5k miles since new in my 640i (same engine as the 535i) and the oil level indicator still indicates max. Ok, I took care to run it in under varying loads and RPMs but I would have expected some oil usage by now.
I'm not a fan of electic sensor level measurement and my mistrust was vindicated when it failed on my F10 535d but at least I had a good old-fashioned dipstick to fall back on. I'd be grateful for fellow owners views - thanks. |

Some of the VW family have shocking oil consumption. A few years ago, Audis in the USA were the subject of repairs and buy backs due to some engines consuming a litre every 1,000 miles. UK owners were merely told that it was "within tolerance".

I'm now at 42k miles and driving just less than 8k miles a year. Not enough drop to even bother topping up with annual oil changes. |

My 2.5Si Z4 with the N52 engine guzzles oil, half a litre every 1500 miles or so.
Well known with this engine.
