good news and bad news

some of you know that I came to own my f10 in February after my beloved e60 550 was totaled by a drunk driver. well, last Thursday I finally took my f10 to the dealer for their promised front bumper repaint. they also painted the reflectors and filled the license plate holes they made when I bought the car. I got a tow hook license plate holder, much happier.

then today I had to go to my office. normally I work from home, so going to the office happens maybe once a month, which is good because it's almost 60 miles away. I leave the office and jump on the 101 to start my 3+ hr trek home, and get rear ended. w....t.....f?

At least you're OK..... You are, aren't you? How's your back? I got rear-ended at a low speed (10ish mph) and thought I was fine. A couple of days later my back was killing me! I never did anything about it and eventually that back pain went away.

lol, yeah, the bumper is strong, but it has the full imprint of his license plate in it. it's scratched to hell, and the diffuser is broken. I backed into my garage, so at least I know my PDC sensors still work

You know, I've said it too many times now, unfortunate, but important thing is no injuries, no frame damage. I'm sure it'll be as good as new in no time.

I hope you are ok. The car is a car... but careless people need to be accountable so I wouldn't pull punches if you have a legit injury from a legal standpoint.

This is the stuff that pisses me off. People just do not take driving seriously with the texting while driving epidemic! If you have to text, for f*cks sake, use your good judgement and do it at traffic lights.... keep it brief to critical messages, not carrying on a sexting conversation.

OK, rant over.

thanks bro, yeah, the guy said:
"I was looking for something in my van" when he hit me. people need to pay more attention when driving, that's for sure.

humm.. so much bad luck in the car. i personally would take it as a sign. I dont know how long you've owned it but it could be a sign of worse things that can happened.

Glad you are ok, I still have trouble understanding why some tech company has not built an algorithm into our smart phones that automatically disables texting from working in a vehicle while in motion. We have motion detectors?

We survived just fine without texts before.

Because passengers text too.
Teenagers bored on long trips, business executives.... etc.

I'm against phone use while driving as much as the next guy, but you cannot regulate every aspect of human behavior. By the same logic, all cars should come with breathalyzer test the would disable car's ignition.
