Idrive update?
Hey All,
I'm starting to see the 2017 models with the new idrive system. I know it includes gesture control which my 2014 535 isn't capable of. My question is whether we will see an update as far as the aesthetics and non-gesture related functions. Thanks! |

For one thing, you don't have the processor or gesture sensor (camera). For another, BMW refuses to upgrade new features. |

Essentially, once BMW introduces a new model support for the previous one stops in terms of updates and upgrades to software that are not a "bug". So to get the new features you will need to get the car as well.

So far only the new 7 series has the gesture control. And I believe it's a hardware change to get the iDrive 5.0 that other 2017 models gets.
Don't think the f10 will get iDrive 5.0 before the end of production soon.

https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/usa/a...language=en_US from this tread http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...light=idrive+5 I don’t see BMW introducing the i-drive 5 to a model with production due to stop in couple months! |
