I drive reset

I am probably being a bit thick but I can't see anyway of resetting the I drive. I want to remove all the phone book, sat nav memory etc before it goes on Tues.

Anyone done this?

For the Sat Nav, there is definitely an option to delete all destinations. I think it's under Destinations, and Options - but then again, that sounds as if I'm stating the obvious!

Yes I was being a bit thick, there is a delete in the options and you get rid of the presets by just holding the button down for a few seconds. I was looking for a kind of factory reset but I don't think this function exists.

I don't think the car's hard drive stores your phone numbers, it just links to your phone and once it's removed from the vehicle there's no way to access anything.
What will remain is your phone's name in the list of paired devices; I haven't tried it, but I'm sure it'll be easy to delete it from the iDrive.
Once you've done that and deleted all your addresses it should be virtually as good as a factory reset - I think!

Correct.
The same with most cars - certainly with Audi & Jag...when I was looking into buying a new car last year.

You can also go into profiles and delete the profile for each key

However keep in mind if your new vehicle is a BMW and has the same facility you can transfer this profile over to the new car

Not correct. I picked up an Approved Used 4 weeks ago. Had the previous owners name, address and phone still stored in Nav and tel. Address book. Naughty dealer but silly original owner
