Sup fellas, I’ve been looking for new tires to put on the f10. I have a okay set of tires I purchased less than a year ago and although they hook well for my tuned car and still have a lot of tread left. I must admit that the road noise sucks. It is so loud in my car and isn’t quiet at all compared to other f10’s I’ve drove in.

Does anybody have any suggestions on what tire is very quiet and extremely comfortable. I know I’m tuned but this car is still an f10 at the end of the day and is a luxary sedan so I’m trying to still have that feeling lol. I’m mainly looking for something that is quiet and maintains comfort without breaking the wallet like crazy at least. (College student lol)

What tires do you currently have?
“Grand Touring” tires are generally quiet and comfy.
Go to the tire rack website, enter your car’s year/make/model, then filter by category and select “grand touring all season”.

Currently I got cheap Chinese tires due to the fact the previous owner had mismatch tires and I knew it wasn’t good for the xdrive so I kind of just bought emergency tires to get by until I’m ready for a real set.

I'm not so sure either choice will be easy on the wallet but you get what you pay for.

I'm a fan of all things Continental. Had great results with Falken throughout the years as well.

As to which model... that depends. Do you have to drive in snow? If yes, will you swap to a winter setup? Questions to think about.

I have gone through 2 sets of the Michelin Pilot Sport. Absolutely excellent tire. Quiet and sticky but not the best if you want it to last as long as others.

I got ~28k miles out of my rears before replacing. Staggered, RWD, and they were measuring (2-3)/32. At least I got to get my ya yas out and burn them up a bit the day before my Discount Tire appointment.

Excellent UHP all season tire tho, imo, and excellent in cold heavy rains.

I'd argure that they're really only good for 3+ seasons. The handful of times that I found myself in even the slightest amounts of snow/ice I would slip slide away all over the place.

s_ribs brings up a valid point about. Personally, I'd go with a winter set of tires/wheels if I lived in a climate that saw extended freezing/snow/ice conditions.

$600 is low for 4 tires for our cars. Maybe in the past times but not now. I just purchased 4 tires 185/70r13 for $800. Stay away from far East products all together. They are cheap and by the time you have problems they are no where to take your claim. So what is wrong with suggestion on post #10. Add Tire Mobility set to your trunk and I think you will be happy. Those Continentals are great price (Not Run Flats) however currently equipped on my 5er, did pretty good in light snow too and easy to get carried away in the corners lol

Often times you can get ~$100 discount direct from the manufacturer if you buy a set (4). I did that my first go around with Michelin PS4 AS (3 years ago) and the price was ~$1200+ out the door.
Over the winter I replaced the rears (2) w/ no discount and paid $820.

If you want a decent set of performance tires for your tuned Bimmer I'd be budgeting $1000-$1500. As mentioned above the Continentals are a bit cheaper vs the Michelins for comparable specs.

Have you done the tire decision guide yet to see what brands fit what you’re looking for? If not, I still recommend trying to see what comes up. You can then adjust if the tires offered don’t appeal to you.

You also don’t have to buy the tires from TireRack…you can take that info and shop local…some local vendors may price match. You will also have specific brand names that you can ask to the forum for any testimonials etc. instead of having everything tossed at the wall.

You cannot go wrong with Continental ExtremeContact DWS or the Michelin Pilot Sports. I have used both on several vehicles and they are both amazing for comfort and performance. My goto is Tirerack.com. Also check Discount Tire if you have a shop locally. believe they are the same??? anyone??

Ive had 3 sets of the Michelin Pilot sports, 3 and now 4A/S couldn't be happier,
