Still Waiting, and waiting........
So in July 2014 I gave my dealer a $1000 deposit on a 2014 535d. The car we located ended up not working out, so the dealer suggested we wait until August to wait for an eco credit. When that never materialized, I ordered a 2015 535d on Monday August 4th. I was told my car would arrive mid September.
So today I called the dealer (whom I have not heard from since August) and was told my car was scheduled to be built the week of Oct 15th. That would put the car in CT sometime around Thanksgiving. Not sure what to do. Suggestions? |

All depends how badly you want (or need it right now) I guess, but it's not that rare that these deliveries are delayed. Cannot comment about BMW, but heard of several people going through similar experience with different brands - though it would've been nice of dealer to contact and let you know.
If you're seriously considering walking away, A6 is very nice and at least worth the test drive, if you can locate diesel in stock somewhere. |

That'll be here before you know it... I'd just wait. If you ordered exactly what you want, then there's no point in settling for less. It's already October in another week.

Hey guys,
You know I'm really a BMW guy. I just like the cars. The thing thats bugging me the most is that now I'm in a position that no matter what I order its going to be November. I brought the dealer 3 other sales the same week I ordered my car. My cousin ordered a 535d and his car is built and on the water as we speak. My sister and brother in law purchased my X5 off lease which is a CPO sale for the dealership, and my lawyer purchased a 2014 535i off the lot. Sales manager called me late yesterday afternoon and said they have a new 2015 m3, black/black on the lot that he wants me to look at. I'm sure I could steal it, and it's an awesome car, but I don't know if I want an M3. I am really looking forward to the comfort, refinement and sensibility of a 535d. At the very least I'm going to get some individual interior upgrades for my trouble. |

On a more serious note, it's really not that bad, and you're getting some upgrades out of it, so, you'll be happy at the end I'm sure. |

So yesterday the sales manager calls me and says that he can throw in the individual wood on the interior but his rep warns that the car will be delayed in production until FEBRUARY! I laughed at him and told him not to worry about adding the wood, I would take my car as ordered.
I also told him that while I would not be leaving BMW because of this delay, this would most certainly be the last car I purchased from BMW Darien because my sales person and sales manager were not honest with me about the length of time it would take to order a diesel. They pulled one over on me and there is not a thing I can do about it. I honestly feel like canceling the car, but I'm really at a loss to come up with what I would replace it with. |

Something's up with your dealer... You can order it somewhere else and still get it before February... What probably happened is that they sold your production spot to the highest bidder... My dealer had to trade for a diesel spot so I can jump into production right away. |

Theres a number of things that can delay production of a car. Such as options and their availability from subcontractors, production planning and so on.
From my experience as a former BMW corporate sales rep. the best guess of what happened here is that the dealer, who has a yearly and monthly quota agreed with the general agent (BMW US), exceeded that quota and he will have to wait to get a later production spot. On the other hand thats not hard to communicate in a good way to the customer. Maybe they felt a risk of loosing the deal by doing so and they took a chance...nevertheless communication is the issue here i would say. Hopefully you've already gotten your car or will be getting it real soon now |
