Engine Temperature Needle, Auto OFF, and Comfort mode
I just picked up a 2012 535i M Sport and there are a few things that concern me. The first thing I found weird is that my engine temperature needle never reaches the center, it is always like 3/8 of the way when I would figure it has warmed up enough. Is this normal?
Another thing that really annoys me that I read about on this forum is that you don't have the option to turn the Auto Off/On feature OFF by default? This is really annoying. Another weird feature is you get an M-Sport and the car defaults to comfort mode by default???? What is BMW thinking?? |

As far as the engine oil temp, it usually stays under 250 -- about 3/8 like you said. |

"Comfort" is the new "Normal".
The possible settings in my 2011: Sport+, Sport, Normal, Comfort. I think 2012 is: Sport+, Sport, Comfort, Comfort+, EcoPro. So for the 2012, starting in "Comfort" is the "proper" behavior as BMW defines it. |

I wasn't aware of the new settings in the '12. Who in the world would need a Comfort+ in a BMW like was mentioned earlier?

Oops just realized that that temperature gauge was for the oil and not the "engine" temperature.
I really hope they push an update that will stop that Auto On/Off cause I find it really annoying. My car is not electric. |

Expect it on most if not all European cars in the near future. Just like the indicators in the side view mirrors
