F10 N63 RaceChip TB Ultimate Dyno Results

Finally had a chance to get the dyno on my F10 550i. The only mod I have on the car besides the chip, is a Dinan axle back exhaust, which shouldn't change much.

Anyways, the results are a little disappointing. The HP is killed with "boost control, level, or whatever". I noticed the engine jerky at higher speeds/rpms and is the reason why I did the Dyno. You can see the "jerkiness" in the graph. I did a few pulls with the chip in first, and than a few pulls with the chip disconnected.

Stock

With RaceChip

Can someone explain why the HP numbers are only like +7?

Ive tried 4 different settings according to Paul from RaceChip, latest one being S2-8, and octane 91-92... All 4 settings have the same result.

It looks as if it only makes Torque and no real horsepower gains. Disappointing to say the least. JB4 appears to still be the only real plug and play tune available to the N63 that actually adds real power.

Seems like something is wrong. Would be interesting to install a JB4 and see what happens.

Have one? ill install it...

Im sending the unit back tomorrow and they will send me another one with different software. Will see if that changes anything.

I don't know how the JB4 works, or even how turbos really work, but it seems like the engine is smarter than the chip, it wont make more power over a certain point, as seen in the dyno graph.

Its hard to believe that im the only one that's having this issue, or maybe other people just don't drive like I do. Would be nice to see someone else dyno their n63 and compare results.

My N63 with BMS Stage 2 in aggressive mode was really sick. If this RaceChip thing doesn't work out for you I highly recommend the BMS.

Is racechip willing to reimburse for the dyno too? Contingent on the updated software yields no results.

Looks choppy even stock. Are you sure you're not having hpfp or injector issues. Have you cleaned the maf? Check your spark plugs.

I don't know. Car only has 27k miles on it, should I take it to the dealer and have them take a look at it?

I received my new updated chip today, and it worked fine. the weird thing is, the more long pulls I did, the worse it got, after doing a few 30-100mph runs, I started noticing the issue again. at first it was flawless. than the issue was present in 3rd gear doing 50mph.. so im not really sure whats going on

Looks a connection issue like a corrupted tune. IMHO.

I can't speak for RC, but issues I've had with stuttering affects have been several things with recent tunes.

1. Tried colder stepped plugs, no fix.
2. This one is weird, but worked. Fill radiator fluid above max.
3. Try 4-5 gallons of e85

Could be the butterfly closing or worse knock sensors going off. BMW engines are not bulletproof, but pretty close.

Save yourself the headache and get the BMS Stage 1 if you want the simple install/un-install. Cheap with proven gains.

Haven't seen one dyno for the n63 what was positive worth the RaceChip.

Truth is jb4 is the most proven so unless you got a deal on some other tune then BMS reigns supreme.

His graph is crazy even stock so its not a tune issue, he's using 91-92 octane which is already bad.. For RaceChip and Even JB4 on more aggressive maps requires 93+ octane.

That or you need to go to someone with AWD Dynojet, I've had my car dyno'ed stock and race chip tuned on Mustang (never again) and dynojet, even brought my friend with his dinan stage1 to tag along.

OP, first recommendation is run the stock setting for at least a tank.. Find yourself a dynojet and do the following as I did..
- First run test on your current stock setting (please)
- 2nd run; turn off car, lock it, and increase setting 1 notch only if you have 93+ octane) since - 3rd run ; increase 1 setting
- 4th run ; put the dummy plug and do a stock run

Let us know what setting you were running on? did you increase or not? stock setting is ok with 91-92 octane, but anything above 2 increase is going to want 93+ otherwise not good even with JB4.

Something is wrong, result is very disappointing. Not sure if it is a tune issue or a car issue
Another great feature of the JB4 is the ability to log you car so we dont have to play the guessing game in order to figure out what went wrong.

Interesting..
I am assuming you started with S5?
I have mine set to S2D then adjusted back to S2B after DME came on. For sure the power gains are there. The HP on yours can't be right..
