BMW Apps seem not to work for most of us. You are not alone.
For the phone, if you have an iPhone, try these steps. http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=882491 If you connect via USB, you may loose Bluetooth audio (but not telephone)...in some phones it's one or the other for music. For example, in iPhone, if you have the iPhone connected to the car by USB, it won't also play music through the earpiece port or possibly also through Bluetooth.

Hmmm...Do you have the USB data stick formatted as FAT32 with default cluster size, with the UPDXXXX.BIN file as the only file?

Let's make it REALLY SIMPLE for the car (and our troubleshooting )
First, download the update file again in case it was corrupted on the first attempt. 1) connect the data stick to your computer and copy everything off of it that you want to ever see again. 2) right-click on the data drive in Computer, and from the pop-up menu, select Format. 3) From Format, select FAT32 and Default Cluster Size (Quick Format is OK for this) 4) When complete, copy only the UPDXXXXX.BIN file to the data drive. 5) view the contents of the data drive. The .BIN file should be the only file on the drive. 6) insert the drive into the armrest USB port and try the update again. If that doesn't work...I'll try to come up with something!

I will hijack this thread slightly. I've just bought a two year old 520d (F10) which apparently has Connected drive/BMW Online. What I want to know is this - what does this even do? Apparently it's not supported in our country so our local BMW site doesn't say much. From what I understand it's supposed to offer access to email and some other online services.
And of course since BMW doesn't officially support this thing in our country - is it even possible to get it working here? Right now it just says that I need an account/contract so that's pretty much all that I know about this. Do you need to pay anything for this to work? |
