I was at the dealership the other week and the service team let me know there is a recall for my 2012 535xi. The recall was for a reprogram however, the dealer was unable to tell me what the reprogram was for. Anyone on here have an idea or have had this done? I have a few software issues, for example, parking sensors not showing up on display but the back up camera does, average consumption not showing on dash when I have it selected in settings and the one that bothers me the most, the navigation arrows still showing on the dash after I have reached my destination. The only way to get rid of the direction arrows is to restart the guidance and then cancel guidance, really annoying. Hopefully they can correct these issues too.

You would think the dealer themselves would know more information on a recall service they will be preforming.

direction arrow showing after arriving at destination is not a bug since my car does that too. I guess BMW engineers assumed that we'd get out of car and turn it off once we get to destination. I have my memory #2 set to cancel navigation for this.

split screen on/off on memory button is also very convenient. And random for my USB audio.

Haha I had no idea either!

BTW, I think the arrow after you've reached your destination is in case you pass it... then you know approx which direction to go to get back to it.

Like here, it's telling me my destination is 800ft behind me. Or rather, make a u-turn and it's 800ft back on the other side of the divided road.

Can you not just use voice control and say 'end guidance' or whatever the phrase is?

This is inconvenient, especially if there are others in the car since voice control has a hard time with background noise (which I can understand).

The problem is after you stop guidance in certain ways (programmed shortcut button) the arrows continue to appear until you turn the car off. Ending guidance via voice command doesn't seem to have this problem.

+1
End or Stop Guidance via Voice commands partial works but the dash arrows remain. A real pain. Apart from leaving the car, I have put in another saved address, started guidance and then stopped guidance immediately. For some stupid reason this works.
Better to just let the car quietly think about it and take a time-out.

for those of you who complain about not being able to get rid of the arrow after guidance, here it is. you can get to this menu by going through left bar menu on map. just put delete route to one of your 8 programmable button and enjoy your car. SA's seriously need to take a course in iDrive, took me a while to figure this one out.

Thanks but I already had it done. Apparently it was a reprogram of the "brain".

Well that still tells you nothing. There is a specific reason for why it was reprogrammed. The "Brain" meaning the DME was programmed but why didnt they specify for what exactly. Like I said, if you give me the last 7 of the VIN I can see what SIB they used and you will know the exact reasoning. I am not going to use your VIN for anything else if thats what you are wondering lol.
