I just installed the M5 sway bar and it took about 2 hours while the car was propped on Rhino ramps since it was a tight squeeze. I'd definitely recommend using a lift if you can get access to one. You'll need an 8mm socket to remove the undercarriage cover screws, a 14mm socket for the frame bolts, and a 19mm open wrench (or adjustable wrench) and T40 bit for the front swing support.
Here's a photo of the 550 non-Msport sway bar (top) vs the M5 (bottom). Upon first glance there doesn't seem to be much of a difference between the two, and I don't have a set of calipers to measure the diameter, unfortunately. However, the M5 sway bar does feel noticeably heavier in the hand. |

I don't know yet, but there's plenty of feedback from others already.
I made the mistake of not test driving before attaching the undercarriage cover back on. The following day I was hearing a lot of clunking noises, and I suspect that I didn't bolt down the front swing supports tight enough. |

I would jus like to clarify does the m5 front sway bar a direct fit to the 550i sedan? Do I need to change the end links? Would the stock end links work.
I also read somewhere that the 650i rear swaybar would fit the f10 what about the f12 m6 rear sway bar will it fit?? |

Helpful tip -- make sure the nuts for the front swing supports are tightened until they don't turn anymore. I was able to tighten the driver's side by an additional half-turn or so and the clunking went away.
The M5 bar can't be more than 2mm thicker, than the stock 550's, but what a difference it makes. The car feels much more planted when turning and cornering now. Definitely a good bang for the buck. |

Rear bar info quoted from the other forum by Nison. I just placed my order for the rear bar and won't be arriving for a couple of weeks since its on back order.

Installed the Front Sway Bar
I had the front sway bar installed by Mark and his talented group at APM here in the Chicago suburbs and they did a brilliant job and the sway is even more brilliant. You notice the difference without a doubt. The bar was installed days before taking it down to the BMW Experience at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, IL and was an incredible day of driving fast without the possibility of being arrested or ticketed.
Thanks Mark! Last edited by caldoone; 07-11-2013 at 10:27 PM.. |

Alan, would you mind letting us know if your rear sway bar parts order, once received, fit appropriately? And if so, would you please restate a summary of the part numbers you ordered with your fitment coments? Thanks Alan.

Ok, I've gone through this thread a couple of times and IMed Joe@ptech (never heard back from him). in any case... I'm unsure of which parts I need. I have a 2011 550i X-Drive M-Sport. I would like to upgrade front and rear bars... Can someone tell me which part numbers I need in order to do so?
Thanks! Rich

Sorry, we have been out of town the last couple weeks racing in Utah and then this past weekend at Laguna. I've responded to all PMs.
As stated above, anyone can call the shop at any time to order these bars to have them shipped out ASAP. Logan is standing by to take these requests. 925-426-1361 |

My car is a 2012 535i with ACS springs. It handles great! It handles like it is on rails. Lots of fun! I will be receiving my Morr MS8's next week. 20 inch rims - 9 up front and 10.5 in back. Wrapped in PSS 255 up front and 295 in the rear. Recently installed the Eisenman quad race exhaust with black tips and the M sport quad diffuser. It has the 3D design front lip spoiler and the M5 rear spoiler. The car is black sapphire metallic with the msport body package. I'm waiting for the wheels. Once received, I'll post pics.
