How did you fit those on your F10? No adapters needed?

Update 14/04/2022

After use ISTA+ brake bleeding result is same issue. I found brake bleeding don't have bubble and foam.

ISTA + DCS unit control test

Brake pressure values
Reae axle brake circuit pressure : state = -21.80 bar
Front axle brake circuit pressure : srate = -21.80 bar

Before case.

today, I change brake set to m5 f10 front and back.

issue is brake fade such as press brake but brake has no power to press on the brake disc.

brake bleeding no air bubbles.

help me please.

You're bleeding both sides of the caliper, right?

I will put my response to your other thread here. You shouldn't have two conversations about the same thing. You should delete one and keep the other.

====================

Brake fade is what happens when brakes overheat from heavy use. It sounds like you have a completely different issue.

Assuming you have done the bleeding process properly, you may have a mechanical issue like a defective master cylinder. If the seals in the cylinder are leaking you will not be able to build pressure in the system and the pedal will drop to the floor when pressed.

I will point out that I installed my Brembo on my 550xi Msport. When I did the research, i found that the M5 and 550 had a similar sized Master cyclinder, and my Brake rotors were larger than a 4 or 6 cyl F10.

If you are not running a V8 Msport, you might want to ensure your master cyl is the same capacity. I have not researched this.

According to realoem, every single F10 model from the 518 to the M550dX uses the same master cylinder 34336796729:

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...38;series=F10N

The F10 M5 uses a bespoke master cylinder 34336799903 that no other F10 model uses:

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...#38;series=F10

I don't know what the difference is between them, but they are different. The F10 M5 uses six piston calipers with 7% less piston area than the 60mm single piston calipers on regular F10s, so it's possible the M5 master cylinder has less displacement.

EDIT: if you're interested in the specs of all the different OEM upgrade options for the M5, I put together a chart showing the differences here:

There's quite the casting difference in the M5 vs non-M5 masters.

Nice find! Looks like the F10 version is 22.2mm and the M5 is 26.9mm. Quite a difference (32% more area)! Perhaps to decrease the amount of braking torque per a given pedal force due to mechanical advantage and aggressive brake pads?

The casting is different where the lines attach, I wonder what else changes throughout the M5 system? I wonder if the booster is the same…

Booster is bigger. you need to replace one of in the incoming brake lines.

So it's a hydraulically stiffer system (less mechanical advantage) due to the larger master cylinder, and they compensate with a larger brake booster. Interesting - thanks for the info!

I am still curious how some people experience soft brake pedal after installation and bleeding while when I did the upgrade, had no issues. Have had this on the car for about two years or more with no issues.

Has to be something that is different. I bleed the system with one person pressure pump and then had it bled by dealer last time I had it in for service. Same peddle pressure both times. While others have performed repeated bleeding and still report soft brake Pedal problems.

Personally I think it's people not fully bleeding all the air out. It took me 2 bleed to get a firm peddle.

I agree with Unspec. I've done many BBK upgrade for my cars without any soft pedals. I always flush in the following order: RR, RL, FR and FL. I switch between ATE amber and blue every time I flush the fluid to make sure I'm getting completely new fluid through the lines. I still do brake flush with one pumping the pedal while the other open the line. Old school but works for me lol
