BMW 528i 2011 wheel+tire need help
I have a 528i 2011 225/55/R17 with Goodyear Ls2 run flat.
Could I upgrade to 245/40r19 all around with goodyear LS2 run flat? Should I get staggered wheel 245/40/r19 front and 275/35/r19 rear? If I upgrade to 245/40/R19 all around, will I get any problem? Gas mileage? Turning radius? Engine performance? What will be the benefit from 17" to an 19". I am a newbie BMW. Sorry for mane question. Thank you |

With the proper wheel offset and width your 19" option seems in line with the F10 BMW optional wheel/tire size. Your handling may seem crisper but you should be prepared for a sightly harder ride - esp with the lower profile 19's. And, unless your roads are always smooth the increased possibility of pothole damage is greater as you go to the lower profile tire. And, even with low-rolling resistance tires your fuel economy may decrease slightly. The "look" may be improved with the proper wheel style too!
That said, and even though the 4cyl horsepower and torque is OK (this may get some folks upset) I think there is a point at which a car becomes "over-tired" ... say compared to a 535 or 550 model F10.

tire sizes
That tire is about 1/2" taller than the BMW recommended size 245/40x19 ... aside from being sure the tires won't rub against anything or throwing off your speedometer it's important to avoid confusing the car's electronics into thinking the front or rear tires are slipping it's very important that the rolling diameter of front and rear tires be equal. There are several web-based tire size comparison websites if you want to see how different tire sizes measure up.
That said, I strongly recommend that you stick with the BMW recommended wheel/tire size combinations. On that point - some tire jockeys talk as if they know what they're talking about ... DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!
