Will Aftermarket Rims and Lowering Springs Violate the Terms of a Lease?

I will be leasing a 550i M sport in the next month or so. I plan on installing Kellener Hamburgs and H&R springs. Before I return the car to the dealership I will change out the wheels and springs back to the stock wheels and springs. Will BMW give a problem when I have the car serviced? Does this violate the lease or the factory warranty?

Thanks!!

I don't believe wheels harm the warranty, so you are good on that.

On the springs, if the service isn't related to springs you should be fine. Plus, some dealers are more mod-friendly then others, so talk to you dealer and see what they say. I had my dealer install my springs, so they know what they are working with.

Hope I could help.

No, and I believe in California it is illegal for a manufacture to deny an auto-warranty claim based solely on the fact an aftermarket part was added. It's my understanding that BMW will only deny a warranty claim if: 1) the claim relates to the system/s (e.g. suspension system) affected by the aftermarket part; and 2) they have evidence that the after market part is the actual cause of of the warranty issue.

I'm not sure if this is applicable in Florida. However it may be if there are federal consumer laws affecting the auto manufacturing and distribution process. I suspect that there are.

Nope; I openly had multiple conversation with my dealer about modding my car. In fact I bought warranty for my aftermarket wheels. They would be hard pressed to say your warranty is void because you lowered your car and put on aftermarket wheels. Who says you have to use BMW wheels and or springs anyway? Not in any lease I've ever seen.

Go for it.
