Question about hands free trunk and pre delivery worries

Is there a switch needed to be flipped for this to be active? I've had success on demo vehicles but not on mine..

My car is at the dealer but have not been able to bring her home yet but I went to go give her a quick look before I pick up next week. So I tried using the hands free trunk with the key in my pocket but it wasn't working.. I tried both swiping and kicking motion. Any advice would be great..

Also, my car is extremely dirty inside... There was even grease on the inner door handle.. And some dirt spots on the headliner.. Is this normal?? Well, I'm assuming they'll clean and detail everything before actual delivery but I'm just kind of annoyed by this.. I'll bring this up for sure during delivery, is there anything else I should check? And should I ask for anything as compensation?

Joey -

Which packages did you order? I'm not familiar with Canadian ones, so I would double check. Were you able to unlock the doors by just touching the handle? If so, the trunk lock might have been engaged inside the center console.

Sometimes on mine I'll actually make contact with the sensor underneath the car. Usually kicking does the trick. Once you've done it once successfully it's pretty easy after that.

As for the dirt - I can't say this is normal, but keep in mind that your car arrives on a vessel with hundreds of other cars. The act of unloading is no easy feat and the porters are rushing to get the cars off and to the VPC in time. Prior, they're removing the load straps that secure the cars in place, undoing the tow hook, etc. Those parts can get dirty. Because of the speed, this unfortunately means they may not wash their hands. They may also not be wearing gloves, etc.

The dealer should detail everything. Make notes of what is bothering you and bring it up with them. I'd also do several walkarounds of the vehicle to make sure everything looks to your satisfaction. Check paint, wheels, door edges, inside the door handles, etc. My car had several scratches inside the interior driver door handle (from rings, etc.) and I made them replace it.

In terms of compensation, probably nothing you can do. Honestly a vehicle is no longer "new" the minute it leaves the factory (in my opinion), and unless you're picking it up outside the factory door, stuff is going to happen. They should work with you, though. Maybe some free swag?

I'm assuming the switch was on lock. I should have it with the packages I ordered, unless BMW forgot to put it on haha

Yeah, going to have to make sure to walk around the car several times and make sure that it is on perfect condition. I'm just afraid that the headliner might not be cleanable if there really is a stain

Had the dealer don the pre-delivery check and taken the car out of Transport Mode yet ?
Many functions do not work when the car is in Transport Mode.

I dont see what you expect compensation for, you went to see it before you should have.
The car isn't ready for you yet.

i was just asking if i should ask for anything from the dealership, if the stains are still there during pick up. i know that headliner stains are difficult to remove
