I always wait until the actual brake wear sensor is triggered and then book it in after another 500 miles or so

It is a no-brainer to buy the service pack if you can and it makes the car more attractive if you sell it on.
This is really helpful thank you for posting. I am picking up (assuming all is well with the car) a 64 plate 535d tomorrow from Motorpoint which has 16k miles on. I'm assuming it has not yet had it's first service, I guess it depends on how it has been driven, but I'm definitely going to check the iDrive when I go to look at it. I will definitely be buying a service pack! I've had one before on an E46, 330d and it made ownership painless. I think in fact that was service and maintenance, because even brake discs were replaced under the deal! The previous owner had paid for the pack (even better). I always keep my cars unless there are any unresolvable issues.

My 535D F11 has been saying "service due" in 3100 miles for the last 6000 miles due to rear pads. There is 6mm still on them. iDrive is miles out when it comes to brake wear!

I recently bought a service pack for my 530d - £800.

Seemed a no brainer when you consider the individual service cost at a main dealer. £360 for 1st service and £610 for the second.

Plus if your car scrapes in with a third service request within 50k miles, then the service pack will cover that one too. So you could be lucky as my car needed a service after 18k and probably will need another by 40k - which would be another £360.

Wearables aren't included, so the car will still go in for brake pads in between, which the car still classes as a 'service'.

Good for resale too if you have a service in the bag!

Service packs are only valid for 50k miles or 5 years (from build date) - whichever is sooner.

Yep, that's right! I think the brake fluid change is £50 or £80 on its own too.
