I really, really want to like the new design, but I just don't. I agree that it seems boring and kinda bland. Hopefully seing one in person will change my mind, especially with the sport or m-sport packages. Can't wait to see the new M5 though.

It seems as if BMW is having a hard time with what design path they want to take. The new 7 and 5 look like they're stuck in time. They have that neutral look. Not much entertaining to look at. Just there and almost trying to hide. The S-Class and new E-Class look much better. You can tell the designs were done with pure confidence. Same with Audi. This is kind of sad.

NO thanks, I'll pass.

But dang he's got a nice watch! Looks like a Breitling Navitimer or Breitling for Bentley. Forget the car what's the scoop on the time piece. Any experts in here.

I miss Bangle's passion and articulate-ness as these intros.

I'll reserve judgement for the car when I see it person. Looks great while in motion, so I'm hopeful.
I think Van Hooydonk gets what makes a BMW a BMW. Bangle never did. When it comes to designing the car I'll drive, I'll take a slick European over a dork from Wisconsin any day.

I like the e60 5er, specially its arse. I think thats the best profile of the 5. This one is at the most bleh! I just hope it can change my mind in real life. The F01 7er is a wasted effort IMHO, They went backwards with that one. The ONLY thing this car has going for it is that it is 6" shorter, a little longer and wider, but for all its worth, it has lost its X-factor. Although, this will be an awesome drive, with the extended WB, being lower and wider.

Instead of "growing" on me, I'm liking it less...

Its a bore, then again, a super base model e60 is boring too.

As someone else stated, the sport package, M-Sport package, and M5 usually save the day by adding some drama. Can't wait to see those cars...

Still don't understand why there has not been one pic of the new 550

It also looks like shadowline trim is gone- this is a 535 sport so you cant say its because it only has prem package. This is similar to what they did with the E90. My bet is we'll have to wait until the facelift to get shadowline.

Judging from the jump from E39 to E60, this is a major step backwards for auto design.

Looks more like majority of whats on road then ever before.

Its a good looking car, dont get me wrong. But its nothing new.

Very boring actually. The E60 looks much better. The F10 is too boxy. And to all who said that this should have been the next 3er... Why? The next 3er should be sexy. The F10 does NOT scream "sexy". The current 3er is sleek and sexy. I hope the new 3 series looks nothing like the new F10.

I agree with your take on the BMW end but couldn't disagree more in ref to Audi and MB.

The new ECLass is awful and a big stepback from the previous model, in terms of looks. Theres nothing about the E's look that screams luxury sports sedan- a too busy front, the column behind the rear door looks American-ish, and rear is bland (I didn't see any confidence in that design). Conversely I'll agree on the S, it's the King of Kings, period.

As for Audi, what's inspiring? The new A4 is putridly boring and in severe regression from previous bodies. The A6, not another word is needed.

And then theres the famous S5, loaded with body armour to jack up the appearence and it works, but the A5 is well nice, nothing more. If every 3 out there was an M, it would share the S5's unreal perception.

Totally agree, the S5's rep is beyond what it should be- and I like Audi.
That being said, I don't like the E sedan, love the new E coupe and adore the S....

You say "what does this have to do with BMW"? Well BMW watches the competition closely and they tend to mimic and/or draw inspiration from it.
The new 5 is a little on the bland side but overall it's good. I think once we see the pics of the new 550 a la sports package a lot of criticisms will subside- that is until they see the price.........expect a fully loaded 550i to go for 82-83k.........

anyone with a keen eye can tell me if the m5 will have widened rear flares compared to the 535i? i dont like the front bumper very much so i hope i can swap front fenders and bumper with the ones from the m5 like many people did with the e60,which would look odd if the m5 have widened rear fenders

F10 550i Premiere

Looks great IRL!

F10 5er looked much more aggressive and dynamics than previous gen 5er. It's the best looking 5er inside and out yet.

that's true. but my point was that there is no glamour, no chicness, no class to the new design as something that is supposed to compete with the E-class should have.
