ACS springs are awesome!

Just sharing my excitement over my new ACS springs. They were installed by my dealer today and the moment I got behind the wheel I felt the difference right away.

The body roll in turns has been drastically reduced and the ride is firmer in a really good way. The car feels planted and very connected to the road and the stability in turns is night and day.

The drop is absolutely perfect in my opinion. The wheel gap on my 20's looks good and the car retains its driving characteristics without feeling like it has no suspension travel left.

The combination of the 20x9/20x10.5 with 245/35-20 285/30-20 and the ACS springs is the perfect compromise between looks and ride quality.

Thanks to this forum and the wealth of information here, I feel like I have the perfect mods done to my car

I'll be posting pics soon!

^^ with the ACS springs you retain all functions of the car since the shocks are still factory.

You can get the springs from the North American distributor for ACS.....CEC (cecwheels.com). Ask for Ron he deals with orders and shipping on them. $445 for the set!

I forgot what my offset is but I'll find out and post soon.

Like Alan pointed out...you're only changing the springs so all the functionality of the adaptive suspension etc. stays the same.

I went with spring over coilovers since I was only looking for a slight drop and a more connected feel. The adjustability and performance of the KW was overkill and didn't justify the cost.

The result of the ACS springs was exactly what I was looking for and at a reduced cost.

If you want to really slam your car you'll need something that'll compensate for the extreme drop and work with the reduced travel, also if you want to be able to tweak the suspension to specific criteria and get maximum adjustability and performance...KW is the way to go. I just didn't need that much.

Did the dealer give you any issues about the new springs? Is your car going to be under warranty? How many hours of labor did they charge you for? I'm waiting for my wheels to be made and will be dropping it shortly after so any info would be appreciated.

Jpmory...

The dealer confirmed that they do spring jobs all the time. My dealer is also a Dinan dealer so they do Dinan ECU, suspension and exhaust work. They also do H&R springs on a regular basis. They had never done ACS before but the idea of dropping a car wasn't something they weren't familiar with or were in any way opposed to.

As far as warranty....the only thing they said was that if something happens to the car and it can be directly linked to the springs...it could/would be an issue. But this would have to be a problem that can be directly and specifically attributed to the springs. They also pointed out that they had never seen or heard of anything like that happening.

They charged me 7 hours for the install...this is in part due to the xdrive requiring more time for a spring install. this seemed in line with other quotes I got and other threads on this forum discussing spring installs.

Hope that helps!

I believe the ACS specs state 20mm/30mm?

I didn't measure before the install so I'm not sure what the actual difference is.

I'll wait for it to settle then measure the difference between my car and stock M-Sport at my dealer and report back.

Does anyone know the difference between the ACS and Dinan Springs for the F10 550i?

Thanks!

how much drop does the AC spring have?
and as usual if the car has EDC, ur dampers will break after 3 years or so, as the spring and damper is not calibrated for each other.

How can you be sure of this? 20/30mm is not such a significant drop...

Wait a sec: what about the M5 suspension? What components of theirs are different from ours? Anyone know?

Not fact.

ACS drops the car 1" which isn't very aggressive at all so no reason to think your shocks will blow out in 3 years. Will it put more wear on the shocks? sure but comes with the territory when it comes to modding.
