Noise was the main reason I went from an e90 to an F10. The F30 is certainly big enough for my needs, I'm usually alone and carry little more than a brief case, but after 4 years & 60k miles of the e90 I'd had more than enough of the noise. I junked the RFTs for Goodyear F1 very soon after buying the car, which was a big improvement, but not enough to make me want to buy another, hence the F10 which I'm very happy with, even on the RFT tyres.

I considered an F31 and discounted it using an E91 as an assessment tool, so not massively scientific. The biggest difference is the shape. I can get 3 large cases in an F10 but not into the 3 touring. Where the touring does work, is for a dog or for bulky objects. I have had split fold seats in my last 3 5 series and whilst this offers additional practicality, the depth of the slot isn't huge. I certainly wouldn't buy an F10 without the split fold seats and am surprised by the number on the BMW AUC that don't have it.

Hope this helps...

I haven't done big miles yet but I'm just not experiencing any noticeable jump in cabin noise levels?

Admittedly I've not had a true back to back as my F10 went a while ago but unless the LCI has received some additional sound proofing it's really quite refined.

The sound of the 6 cylinder over the 4 is certainly a change for the better though.
