What mpg do you get from the new B47 engine

I noticed on some forums owners are complaining that the facelifted car with the new smooth 4 cylinder engine are getting much worse mpg that with the old engine.

Has anybody here experienced that at all?

Haven't had chance to take our F11 on a long trip yet but around town I get 34mpg which is the same as my E92 N47 177ps so not bad considering the weight of the F11. The engine is so much nicer then the N47 it has more mid range punch and pulls harder up the rev range where the N47 seems to die off, doesn't sound to bad either.

Although irrelevant to the question...my n47 520d lci returns a lovely 57-62mpg on the motorway and low to mid 40's around town depending on how hard I am on it!

I'm averaging 43.7 fairly easy driving with very little town driving and at least 50% on the motorway. To see anything like 57 - 62 I'd have to do no more 55mph and nowhere near any hills or inclines.

Might as well go for a 535d.

My overall since new is around 37, but it shows what's possible on motorway runs if you keep to speeds starting with a 7.

After a recent trip up to the Outer Hebrides which involved driving on all manner of roads the average MPG was 54mpg over about 700 miles. I have to say though that the weather and traffic was favorable for the trip. It's definitely down on the BMW figures and the N47 but as I only have 13K on the clock I'm not too bothered....... yet......

Forgot to say I've only got those crappy 17" Bridgestone RFTs on the car, they're only E Rated for efficiency .... Cant wait to change them all for some nicer tyres on some better looking wheels ;-)
