Widest rear tire help!?
Hey guys so have a quick question and need some help from people smarter than me. I have a 2012 550 m sport with 20inch morr vs8.2 wheels and have been running 255/35 up front and 285/30 in the rear with no issues at all! I recently tried to replace my rears with 295/35 and love the look and feel of them but I occasionally rub on large bumps and if I have 2 other people in the car with me I rub even on small bumps. I am taking the car back to swap these out but am trying to see if anyone knows if I could be fine on 295/30 or if I have to go back to 285/30. I know the extra width isn't really needed for traction but I was trying to increase the sidewall size for extra strength as well as making it look a bit fuller. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks! |

295/35-20 is 5% taller than OEM. That diameter combined with 295 width is too much (at least with your wheel width and offset).
295/30-20 will fit fine with correct wheel offset. 285/35-20 would be another alternative, but then also the front profile should be increased to 40 (245/40-20). |
