LDW (Lane Departure Warning) 5AD retrofit
Hello Guys and Thank you for this great form!
I enjoy reading through the form and see what you guys did to your cars. its very nice and I'm happy to be part of this form, I bought F10 535 xdrive 2011 M-package. The car comes with alot of features but not the 5AD (LDW) or the HUD. I tried searching the form for a complete set of parts needed to do the LDW but just few things here and there but not the complete list or how to do the retrofit. My side mirrors comes with auto fold, camera but not the triangle blind spot warning and I don't have the front camera. I don't care that much for the front camera at the moment, but I really wanna do the blind spot monitor. My steering wheel, is m type with heater. not sure if I have the motor vibration but I can dig more into it later. Again I appreciate if anyone can direct me in the right path. Respectfully, Sam |

No place sells a ready to go DIY kit.
You’ll have to piece one together yourself. There are a lot of variables depending on your cars configuration. Configurations can vary widely so what is needed for one won’t be the same for all. Also people balk at what it can cost. Take your HUD for example, it takes a special windshield which is over a grand, the unit itself another grand. The dash work would take some time even by a professional. Then the coding, this is also doing all the work yourself. Now if you can source parts on the cheap, it’s still gonna cost a bundle. In the long run we learn, buy the car configured how you want from the get go. |

I've been looking into adding this and while there are a lot of pieces, most can be had off of flea-bay for a handful of coins....
The bigger issue for me is sourcing the video cables.... I'd be interested in what you think is needed, by BMW part number....you willing to share? |

I do not, and only have the rear camera.
Will be looking into what this takes to retrofit...and yes, understand it will cost a lot...will put in the following: - Fender sensors - Front Bumper Camera - Rear View mirror mounted Camera - Left and Right mirror Camera - Camera module - Supporting wiring - Associated trim pieces I haven't got into the weeds on this mod, and plan on doing some wire tracing in newTIS.info, and pull a full list of modules, price them on eBay, and then decide if I should pull the trigger or not.... I've stripped the car down to metal several time since Thanksgiving to add other options, and have an ///M5 donor chassis and audio/camera harness.... I was hoping that someone had already done the module assessment by BMW p/n... |
