LCI Msport steering wheel plugs

Hey can anyone shed some knowledge on the steering wheel plugs circled in red? Is the top plug for controls/buttons and the bottom plug for heat and other options or something?

Based on info from the TIS...those two plugs are not for heating. The connector for heating is on the left side of the steering wheel.

I assume the connectors circled in red in your pic...are #2 in the pic from the TIS:

  • Position plug connection (4) and the control unit for the steering wheel module (3) in the steering wheel.
  • Route the wiring harness in the steering wheel as shown in the figure.
  • Disconnect the grounding cable at the impact plate.
  • Connect connectors (2) and lock.
  • If installed:
    • Connect connectors (5) and lock.
    • Position the grounding cable and tighten the screw (1).
They connector for the heated steering wheel is #1 in the pic below:

For vehicles with steering wheel heating and/or touch detection:
  • Carefully clip in the decorative trim (4) at the latch mechanisms (3).
  • Insert the cables into the cable clips (2).
  • Connect connector (1).

Thanks Qsilver7. I think they are #2 too but pic doesn't tell me much. Only that it's a connector haha!

What's TIS?

Someone suggested the top is for controls/buttons and the bottom is for lane change warning vibration. Can anyone confirm this?

Oops...I got distracted and forget to place a link to the TIS page I got those images from...here’s the link: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/g...eel/1Vnd9vDsxl

You can click on the HOME button at the top left of the page on the site...and enter the last 7 digits of your VIN...and the site will be specific to your BMW. .

Those connectors are probably for the left & right MFL (multifunctional) switch block pads on each side of the steering wheels. If you use the link to the TIS website above...try typing x0111 and x01112 into the search box....or A152 and A153 (left/right switch locks) for more info on those items (or areas) of the MFL steering wheel:

Unusual, he is normally very thorough, I guess he is distracted.
‘‘Tis or newtis, same thing, is basically the shop manual for your BMW.
Use it in conjunction with www.realoem.com and they will take you far.

The top red circle is the connector for your steering wheel buttons, and the lower red circle is for your steering heater....your airbag will plug into the clockspring to the left of the steering wheel button connector...so two connectors at 12 O'clock position and 1 connector at the 4 O'clock position....

I'll try to look it up on newTIS.info for you .....but a quick look doesn't label the connectors...still looking....

Are the 2 connectors X0111 & X0112 in the illustration below the two connectors in question? If you type those connector numbers in the search box at the TIS site...you’ll be able to get info for them...the link below will take you to info about X0111 & X0112 plus a link to the wiring diagram for the M steering wheel which provides additional info through the clickable links embedded in the SSP wiring illustration. Now I'm getting confused ...after looking at the wiring diagram...I'm starting to think those connectors are for the left/right shift paddles.

thanks for your input everyone! and thanks for the new site to ref things off. I was only using realoem but still have a hard time finding things on that sometimes.

to confuse the issue, it's out of a 6er (VIN: DW91958) and I'm retrofitting to my F11 5er.

I think this is correct too but as my car doesn't have the 4 o-clock plug, it will be left blank. I'm just worried about the functions or if any errors will flash..
