Big deal...It is basically the same car with the swirly camouflage paint we have been seeing all along, a good keen eye could easily decipher the true shape...except now the rear tail lights are more apparent.

Chris Bangle would not have approved. At least under his reign, BMW design work is provocative if not visually exciting. Now they just look "generic" .. The front bumper/hood and the tail lights are reminiscent of e90 3er, which is not a bad thing, but there is nothing wrong with a little styling distinction here.

I like it. nicely sculpted compared to the e60. m5 should make it a little more raw

Avalon?? Maybe the same very general shape, but that is all. There are only so many ways to design taillights without getting rediculous. I respect your opinion though. Overall I think it looks stunning. I love the blackline effect on the taillights, otherwise they might be a bit boring--but tailights are tough to get right. This design will do very well for BMW. Now I just need to start saving up.

You people all slating Bangle- he will have had input into this car, this design will have been developed over years. Without the Bangle era we wouldnt have got the proportions we see and like now.

If the standard* "5" looks like this ... I'm getting a tingling feeling that the new M5 is going to be SICK! Totally RiDonkeylous!

*By the looks of those tail pipes, that looks like a 535i

that rear is WIN. Finally. I can say this is the best looking 5 series and I don't have to be one of those sad people that go back to the good old days and moan about how BMWs aren't as good as they were and how E39 was the perfect five and all that.

well fakin done BMW!

A tad "safe" in my opinion.. but I can say that I like every angle except for the front corner shot - the front almost looks sqeemish like its shy or something ..
