F10 Lci fog trim removal

Hello,

I was thinking to wrap or plastidip the silver/grey piece in the fog light. But how do i get it off ? Do i need to take off the whole foglight trim or can i just take off the grey part ?

Thanks

After 158,000 highway miles mine was pretty scratched and chipped. I masked the entire plastic section(s) - both sides and the thinner one on the middle - and used black HyperDip. It looks great and has held up through several seasons here in CO. Mine is a '14 535i with no fog lights. (Non-M). I also HyperDipped the chrome window trim. It's Sophisto Gray. Looks clean, and I'm happy with how well the F10 has aged.

Its easier to take off if you take that entire part off with the black surround. Both the black surround trim and the silver part are clipped that you need to gently pry lose with a pry tool or flathead.

If you search for that part online, you can look at where the clips are in the pictures that you find online.

The foglight is attached to the body separately and will not be affected when you take the black trim off.

Mines a non lci but I just painted mine today. They are called finishing rods by the way, and they don’t have black ones available to buy so here’s mine now. You should be able to remove the trim they snap into and unsnap them from the back like these. I added a picture of the paint I used as well. Three coats total after cleaning and lightly sanding.
