can i reset Brake wear Service light?

I recently had the brake service warning light/message come up and although it reminds me every time i start the damn thing is there any way of resetting it, btw no i haven't read the manual.

Will also be booking it in for said work at an independent garage shortly.

thanks for any advice.

Yes you can, though it seems you may have to make a few attempts

Talked with SA at BMW service concerning GFs 328. Her factory warranty is up 2/26/2016 so getting a few things done on BMWs dime. Cabin filter, brake fluid. Anyway her brake info says that the rears have 3100 miles left before needing replaced. He told me that the sensors need recalibrated to give accurate data. Basically saying that you may or may not need brakes when your car tells you that you need new brakes. Have the Indy garage chech em, and of course replace if necessary. See if they will let you in the back to check it out when they are looking at them. I won't deal with a shop that won't show me what's going on with the car and what needs fixed and why. Most places are ok with this and you can also ask for the parts that they replaced, they belong to you anyway.

Yes definitely a good point, and i was thinking even if the sensors were bang on and working correctly, bmw aren't silly they are obviously going to get you in I would say at least 3 months earlier than actual due date, makes good business sense, and also they can pull the old safety card to back themselves up.

Will get them checked by an indy

Depends on which light you're referring to, there's the idrive warning that can be inaccurate or there's the brake sensor warning that I tend to go by. This will also leave a permanent light on in the instrument cluster. After this first comes on you still have plenty of miles left, not sure how many maximum but I've done 5-600 miles with this light on...

Think its just the idrive warning msg at the moment, im going to take it to a decent garage i know this week and get it checked, they did the rears on my e90 with no probs at all and a reasonable price.

Update on GFs brakes for general information. Sensor said 3000 miles to replace, after brake fluid change and sensor reset at dealership now service says 7000 miles to replace. Had them give me exact pad measurements and they are at 10mm. New pads are about 12mm and you replace when they get down to 3mm. We bought her car a year ago 2011 328 xdrive w/30k miles and its at 37k now so they must have put new pads on before we bought it. Nice. Not sure if the brake sensors are crap or if it's a tool to get you in the shop to get them replaced (out of warranty) or sensor reset (in warranty). I'll pull a tire and measure them myself on my 5 and her 3 before I take them in due to the sensor info in the future since I'm paying from here on out.
I included a random hot girl pic for those of you who read all this.

Gone for front and rear brembo pads in the end as both could do with changing in all honesty, and will be fitting new sensors to save any indescrepencies with the on board computer calculations.

Total cost with sensors 99pound euro car parts, which i didnt think was too bad.

Nice pic btw.

I changed the rear pads in my F11 recently and reset the service indicator, it is easy to do but mine didn't reset until I released the handbrake.

Thanks ian, yes definately seems it needs to be done with handbrake released, still its a bonus you dont have to take it to the dealers to reset it
