Quickest sprint?

I have a question for all you BMW buffs. Tomorrow, I going to get the Dinan stage 1 software installed in my 550i TT V8.

So, I was out doing 0-60 sprints to so that I can compare it to the upgrade software. While doing so, I tried full throttle under 3 conditions.

1. In SPORT MODE

2. In SPORT PLUS MODE,
and,
3. With the DSC completely off by holding down the traction off button for 5 seconds.

Logically, I thought my fastest sprints would be with the traction completely off, but the tires didn't even spin. When I gave it full throttle, it hesitated for a split second and then hit full throttle.

What I noticed was that my car was the fastest in the SPORT PLUS mode. The tires spun some and I got full throttle immediately when I floored it.

My question is -- did everybody know this but me, or did I find out something new. I guess this is how it's supposed to work.

Also, when I turned the DSC off, I noticed the suspension was a lot softer --- I guess it goes back to NORMAL mode when the DSC is off.

Look up Dynamic Traction Control in your manual. To quote "The DTC system is a version of the DSC in which forward momentum is optimized".

With you on the ECU but no DINAN here and I am holding out for the hope that AC Schnitzer comes out with an ECU for 550i. Havent been able to get any info on that yet, anyone else?

delvek, there are a few places in Germany that offer a tune for the 550i. Here's one that I found and was considering. Also one in the Frankfurt area but can't remember the website.

The Dinan upgrade makes a HUGE difference -- the torque is UNBELIEVABLE --- It was worth every penny. I barely made it in time for the 20% discount. Who knows, Dinan may discount it another month. They've already extended it about 3 or 4 times.

The upgrade does make the efficient dynamics gauge not work, but Dinan is working on it. The MPG gauge works, but it never goes to the blue side for the efficient dynamics -- of course, I never really look at it anyway.

Why not a video of it, before and after. A simple one with the phone. Its easier to time it with a video.

And!!! Please post them here...

Thanks Kman, I am partial to ACSchnitzer because of its relationship with BMW and the warranty they provide. I am holding out for their product. Plus I havent hit 5k km's which they say is minimum before the ECU should be modified. I always try to be cautious wit the mods.
