$2.79 is cheap?? I just paid $2.39 for diesel and that's a bit high for around here. Although premium is about 2.50

Winter update, about 12 inches of snow sitting on the f10 now. Really wish I had cleaned out the garage for this one...

YUP!!! Until April-ish... It depends how March is looking. I don't want any salt on her and they use plenty salt up here in Toronto.

Plus with over 400 pony's and torque cold ground is a waste!

Recently traded in my 1990 300zx TT I had owned for 18+ years for this 535 (Z was a DD - drove it in the snow all the time with just all-season tires) and after the trade, gave my daughter my 2005 Nissan Altima (56k miles) since I could not fit both in the garage.

I'm not sure why there is so much adversity to driving our cars in the snow (other than the obvious - salt, chems etc). Even though my BMW is RWD, so was my Z and that thing was a low riding snow plow. With the balance of the BMW, and it having way less power than my Z, I do not anticipate any problems this winter. Already have had one minor snow, but so far it seems like this car will be fine this winter.

my reason for not driving my car in the winter months is not because it's RWD or that i don't want to purchase snow tires or the fact it's not safe? it's because i've invested time and money into her and she's strictly a show car, a cruiser and hobby of mine. i've seen way too many cars in ditches in my area on a daily basis and that's the last thing i'd want to be in. that's why i have other cars i drive during the winter. you'll never see guys around here driving their Porsche's, Corvette's or whatever prize possesion they may own during winters! tho i see Mustangs lol! but there's a lot of BMW who do drive in the winters and i commend them just not what i would do with my BMW. For now, she sleeps until April...maybe March?

On our way to Love Field early this morning, we found ourselves caught up behind accidents due to the ice. Once we were off the highway, here is what was out on Lemmon street. No garage queen there!

I remember a few winters where there were record breaking temperatures with level 2-3 winter conditions and I had to pickup my son at the Detroit Airport at Midnight flying in from San Diego and the 75 freeway was ridiculous! Driving only 5-10 MPH in bumper to bumper traffic. Accident everywhere! Semis tipped over on it's side on both sides of the road. At one point traffic stop moving for like 30 min and I rolled down my window looked at the ground and we were literally driving on ICE! it took what should have been a 2 hour drive round trip to 12 hours it was stupid, crazy and dangerous. Even when people were at a complete stop on a down grade part of the road you could see their car just sliding and bumping into the car on the side of them! People think because they have 4 wheel drive they're invincible on the road but it comes to ice on the road it doesn't matter what you drive I hate winters

Yep and it was the usual suspects, people in 4x4s who think they're invincible because they have four wheel drive because that gives one immunity to laws of physics and coefficients of friction.

Winter's are not so bad, snow, no matter how much of it or how well maintained roads are is fairly predictable surface to drive on. Basic driving skills, good tires and common sense go a long way. However ice (we get lots of freezing rain in the area every winter - see second photo in my previous post) is just nasty and dangerous. This is one thing that scares me and everyone I know.

That said, as dangerous as it is, everybody still goes around even on those days. The whole city is humming along just fine, slow, cautious, but people get where they need to go.

I thought it was crazy when I visited Edmonton and all you guys actually drive all at the same speed! No one was speeding or in a rush. Nobody on the fast lane was driving faster than the slow lane. All driving at the same speed and I was like WTF and I couldn't figure out your KM's and I'm used to MPH so it was a bit weird to learn your speed limits haha!

I always lived in cities with snowy winters. I moved to Miami not so long ago and while I miss mountains and snowboarding, I love the fact that I can enjoy my cars 365 days a year.

Not at all. I leased this sucker to be my daily driver so that other toys that I actually own do not come out.

There is no reason save / store a 5 series. It would of been a different story if it was a M car.

That's an exception, while lots of people adjust for weather, not a day goes buy that you don't see several "I'm-better-than-all-of-you" drivers not adjusting for conditions on the road.

From the news, just two days ago.

mine is not a lease. so that doesn't even make sense whether it's a M or not

Haha good one, yup she was buried this weekend. Finally got her out this morning and the xdrive held up pretty well. Only issue is I didn't even think to remove my CF front lip before the winter, so I will be that douche driving slow and swerving around chunks of snow/ice as I drive

that would be me lol! if i had to drive my car in the snow and because my spoiler lip is screwed on as well as being held with double sided 3m tape i'd be swerving! but that would be funny to see you swerving in and out of the lanes avoiding chunks of snow

It would make more sense to make a show, summer, weekend car out of a M car than a regular 5 series IMO. But that's just me. My M cars have always been show cars.

Everyone is in a different situation and have different preferences.

Since you purchased your car it makes total sense for you to drive it in nice weather especially after all the effort you put into it. I totally get it.

I was only honked at 3 or 4 times today, so I'll take that as a win I need to just take the damn spoiler off, maybe pick up a cheap one thats a bit more disposable
