535D Fuel Pump OE Replacement (Pierburg?)

I made a thread recently about suspected gelled fuel killing my low pressure fuel pump. However, I think my pump is just failing overall.

I am getting a intermittent whining noise coming from the back seat. Starts just after start with a pulsating noise before steadying out. Sometimes goes away.

I figure ill just order a new pump and replace it. But Cant seem to find the Original Manufacturer. BMW pumps are over 400USD and I know they are made by a third party.

Rock auto has a Peirburg pump assembly for 250 Canadian. I cant seem to find much if these are the OE or not. Would these be a quality replacement?

Alot of us in the community trust Pierburg in making a Quality Electric Water pump. Have you tried searching FCP Euro or ECS tuning? They can assist with VIN Number part Look up to find exactly what you need for your 535D

I checked most of the common dealers, FCP has BMW branded pumps, turner and ECS dont have anything. Rock auto was the only option I can find with the Pierburg pump/housing Assy.

Im fairly certain its the pump though, Noise seems to go away at start after cars been sitting for a while and come back after a bit of driving. I put my ear against the floor under the rear seat and can hear it. I did it on the drivers side but its likely just transmitting the sound to both sides. I mean what else is in there?

It does not say whats the OEM, just a part number.

Considering My options the Pierburg is likely my only one, unless I want to pay three times as much for a BMW one.

Well, Pierburg pump is in. well see how she goes.

I did notice a few, like two or three tiny metal flakes in the fuel tank though. So now Im wondering where they came from. I know metal flakes on the fuel system is a sign of HPFP failure but from pics ive seen that looks like Glitter when that's the case.

None of the signs of HPFP failure that I can tell, but Well see where she goes.

Very happy you went with a OEM Supplier and I am sure you will see good results and a long service life for your 535D.
