A literal deer in the headlights

While driving home Saturday on a dark road, a deer decided to jump across the road and into my 2011 528i. The amazing thing is that the only damage was the right headlight assembly was smashed. No damage or scratches on the front end. Only very small and slight scratches on the right side. I believe caused by broken pieces of the assembly. They can be buffed out. The only explanation is that the deer hoof hit the plastic and kept going. Most of the plastic cover is gone, but the lights still work. Insurance call Monday to see the possibilities. Quite a damper on the weekend.

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. That's one of my biggest fears where I live in VA. Last night I went to meet a friend for dinner and was back and forth on which car to take. I ended up taking the VW and wasn't even a half mile outside of my neighborhood before I was all over the brakes because of deer. Scary stuff. Glad it was only minor cosmetic damage!

It made me think that had I been in the 5er, I might have been going a little faster... and been right in the path of those deer. It was that close.
