closing trunk question....

I noticed it's pretty difficult to close trunk, like you really have to apply some force, is it how it is on 5 series? on my old 3 series i could just gently press it

Might be too new? I've always just given a quick tug from the inside and let momentum take its course. This is on the e60 5 series.

You don't have the automatic closing trunk do you? That might have some extra resistance because of the motors.

There is extra resistance on the 5 series trunk. It is designed to overcome your resistance to the auto- close option.

yah mine doesn't have auto closing trunk... I thought trunk lock broke today because it wouldn't close (I refused to apply too much force), then after half an hour I pressed a lot harder and it closed, just wondering if it's broken or suppose to be like this ?

On a somewhat related but unrelated issue, someone a while back said that they were able to lock their keys in the trunk. I accidentally tried that this weekend. I had my keys in a bag and threw the bag in the trunk. When I closed the trunk, the flashers kept flashing. I went back and pressed the button on the trunk and it opened and I got my keys out with no problems.

I noticed this on the F10 without the comfort access auto close trunk. It takes a lot of force to close the trunk, relative to say an E Class Mercedes that closes with the force of the weight of a feather.

I have the auto close so I wouldn't know, but don't most trunks now a days have the mechanical "pull" feature at the end when the latch engages a la comfort access doors? I guess the 5 doesn't.

I noticed too that it takes a good push to latch the trunk lid on my 535. I thought that odd for a vehicle of this level of refinement.
